But no matter what the club did the right thing @IncorrectIf so why did we take up club option on Ogden and promote Cini?
Makes the Moimesea contract even more embarrassing.

When Gronky gets back from holidays he can explain it to you Gazza.
He did a thread up on it
Ahh f**k. Where is he? Let me guess eating a baquette somewhere in Europe.
Was thinking maybe he f**ked off for good. One can only hope.
Well that indicates merkins can be removed just by making them the 31st highest paid player. Maybe they can? It would just mean the player can no longer play first grade at all. The club still has to pay him, but now it's outside the cap and he is no longer eligible for first grade. This is why I asked. Multiple articles read like Biondi-Oda was cut from the top 30 last year by the signing of Hoffman. Of course the lack of clarity and transparency keeps everyone guessing.
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have cut utility Bailey Biondi-Odo from their top 30 squad in favour of former Wests Tigers rookie Reece Hoffman.
Despite re-signing until the end of this season back in 2021, Biondi-Odo has seemingly been cut from Canterbury's top 30 as he continues to rehabilitate a torn ACL suffered in a hip drop tackle last September.
If we have filled the top thirty but not spent 97% (or whatever it is) of the cap then we're in trouble aren't we?My mail is that money isn't out problem... it's a spot in the top 30.
If they make it illegal plenty of people will drop it regardless of enforceability. This will reduce its value.Don't ask me how they would do this other then they have all the power and they pass the laws, but trust me if what I think is coming comes then they will have all the power to do just that. But lets all hope it doesn't come to that for all our sakes.
Can't we just fly familiy members out and that goes to the cap to spend some of the money? If we have filled the top thirty but not spent 97% (or whatever it is) of the cap then we're in trouble aren't we?
They think there's all these great players that a bunch of nuffies have noticed but none of the clubs have so the players must be cheap.I wasn't talking about your talent scouting which I believe is actually really good - just the fact that you think the club doesnt actually see the same things.
In fact, I could probably name at least 3 current first grade players at other clubs that we approached when they were 17 or 18 years old and it probably isnt common knowledge we approached them. The problem is they each stayed at their junior club instead of moving interstate.

Nah, we'll just upgrade someone we are keeping later in the year and include a '24 increase. If we have filled the top thirty but not spent 97% (or whatever it is) of the cap then we're in trouble aren't we?
Yes and no. There’s kind of two separate mechanisms..
The top 30 and associated rules are beyond my comprehension mate. I thought it was the 30 players you pay the most so if a new player is paid more than the guy at position 30 its a matter of one in and one out.
I guess this could then complicate the second tier cap.
If thats not the case then is it simply an admission that we got it wrong and promoted and are paying too much to players we now dont rate?
Little wonder Seward got confused.
Maybe we give Jirah a payrise...Nah, we'll just upgrade someone we are keeping later in the year and include a '24 increase.

To go to another club.Maybe we give Jirah a payrise...
Whighton.I can't think of to many big name players that have switched clubs this year.
Herbie,Fleggler, Spencer,Crighton,Brooks,Dom Young.
Who else? A lot of middle of the road players may of moved on but these days a lot of your higher profile guys are signed up long term already.
Maybe we give Jirah a payrise...

Definitely deserving of a top 30 contract in 2024.He has huge value. Can play centre, 2nd row, prop. And has NRL experience.
In EngerlandTo go to another club.

Yeah but was he ever a chance of not going to Redfern.Whighton.
I dont have an issue with The Ram or Hindy talking up the players they like... it's a good use of the forum. My question was more to do with the assertion that the club doesnt see the same thing, which IMHO is unfounded given that we have a professional recruitment team that includes scouts in every major RL playing region, etc.
Just because they don't announce every player they approach doesnt mean they didn't approach or at least consider.
