Just some updates:

The two Manly recruits are training well, have a great attitude and are expected to play plenty of first grade.

Sean Russell will play plenty of first grade and is training the house down. The level of fitness and his attitude is way ahead of some other more fancied players that play in his position from the lower grades. Had a shoulder strain and thankfully didn't need an operation.

Greig is back earlier than expected from a slight tinge during the Pacific tournament and realises now what it takes to make it in the NRL. His work ethic is sublime.

Blaize Talagi is the pick of the players coming through. He has been described as the best since Dylan Brown with a similar skillset.

If available we would take Ice back from the Tigers. Expect that noise to increase during the season.

Our fitness levels and the way we train is at benchmark levels. New recruits and some up and coming players initially cannot keep up. Trent Elkin and his systems are the envy of many clubs. He is a major asset to the Eels.

A top 4 finish is expected for season 2024.
Thanks for the update 60’s ;-)

They actually do a great job. I listen to them all the time. I actually like @Forty20 and Clint when he comes on. 60’s can be a hothead like me which is why we have a prickly cyber relationship. You can’t however doubt his football knowledge with anything Eels’ related. Reminds me of my mate, @Stagger eel.

Good read thanks 👍

It's great to see the young kids are coming through and bringing the right attitude.

Not sure I've is needed anymore would rather we spent the money on some of our kids coming through now especially with the forwards we currently have in the top 30.

Talagi can be a player like Manu from the Roosters. Play centre fill in at 5/8 if required.( Not sure about fullback)

I assume he has bought in to the move to centre long term at the Eels.

Sounds like the toughest pre season ever.

I’m not feeling you mate. Is that some kind of new westy slang?
Definition of "drinking the kool aid" - "To become a firm believer in something; to accept an argument or philosophy whole-heartedly." The phrase has been used in the business and technology worlds to mean fervent devotion to a certain company or technology.

I know the meaning of that but I’m missing the bong part. Haven’t had one since 1984.

Thanks for the update @Avenger . Tbh kool aide or not, it’s bloody refreshing to have some footy chat to listen, debate and talk about!
I don’t know much about Talagi, is he a centre or is he a half? I’m also a big believer in Russell, I personally think Russell is a real centre but he’s doing a job for us.
In summary it sounds like we are trying hard to address the 3/4 and wing deficiencies despite not nailing an established quantity.
Curtis Scott (possibly)
Talagi
Harper
Etc

If Tupou was in the mix I wouldn't be against it.
