Walsh is 21. He is a generational talent. So exciting to watch. Gutherson turns 30 this year. How much longer will he be good for?
I rate him highly but Walsh you build game plans around to try and stop him. He is dynamite. His defense will slowly improve I reckon. Slater amd Bowen where similar when first come into grade.

I rate Walsh. He's an excellent player.

But I would not swap the abilities that Gutherson brings to the table, for those that Walsh does.

Attack is not “only half the game” when you are a fullback. Players like Walsh are like Lionel Messi in soccer. Possessing the rarest of abilities. He can actually create havoc with the ball when there’s maybe 3 dudes in the whole comp who can do that. I take Walsh and tell the other 12 to cover for him in defense. I wouldn’t even have him practice defense at training. He would be 100 percent attack.

His job, as a fullback, is to also organise the defensive line.

He's not great at that, nor is he at car hibf bombs, or tackling.

Superstar player, would love him at Parra - but not over Gutho.

Not at all. Most of us know he probably costs 150k and min wage is 130k so barely an issue to our NRL side.
Issue is why WE don't have juniors who are taking those spots. I think it's embarrassing a club our size isn't able to produce plenty of players with Moimeseas potential.
But we do have those juniors. They emerged last year and now our reserve grade side has plenty of them. It’s why we could afford to let go of Momoisea a year early. It’s a success for our club, yet deadshits keep trying to sell it as a failure.

Took your other team over 10 years to get the progress started.
Mataele, Doorey, Guymer, Parker , then beneath them you have Tauvati, Pryke, Brazil, Tupou and others have all jumped in front of Jirrah. The succession plan was only implemented when the new board started it. You do understand if Gould hadn’t organised an interest free loan from James Packer, the Riff were in all sorts. That saved them and sent them on a path to where they are now, not lucky but very fortunate that Gould could tap into the Packers.

I realise I answered this earlier but i do want to just add the question people do realise that Guth has been our fullback for the last 5 or 10 campaigns (failed). I am not saying it is all his fault but he is part of it. I’d take Walsh just to change that up. Maybe the missing link.

I'm not sure he'd be the missing piece, though - our goal-line defence is big ordinary, and has been for some time.

We have no problems scoring points - it's stopping them that's the problem.

Footy fans are dopes, and those particular footy fans are desperate for their club to sign more stars. Therefore they are likely to think that signing Momoisea will stop them from bringing in whichever unavailable superstar they think would have saved them.

Our fans are no different. We lost Niukore and Papali’i and our f**ken dopes assumed the club spent their money on Momoisea and Murchie. So they got the blame.
We gave Momoisea a top 30 spot. The Dogs gave him a second tier development deal at age 25.

You’re the dope for pumping his tyres and trying to justify that he was a perfect back up and viable top 30 player.

I love Gutherson but if he wants to take a big cash deal and play in the UK Super League in 2026 when he will be turning 32 I wouldn’t be fighting to keep him at all costs.

We had a lot of problems scoring points last year. And in the GF against Penrith the year before.

Good kick returning fullbacks are a bit of a thing of the past but who are some of the greats?
I remember in the early 90s big Paul Hauff was very dangerous for a year or two with a massive step.
