When it comes to our goalkicking issue, I find it laughable when posters on here say Semi can kick goals, Gutho can kick goals etc.

Big difference between knocking them over at training, even if you kick at 90%, than kicking when a game is on the line, or at an away ground, or with fans screaming at you, or under pressure and or under fatigue.

I think it is going to be a major problem for us. It is so important and we are going in handicapped imo.

Agreed.

With that said, Gutherson was a genuine kicking choice in NYC...although his record isn't great there's no reason he can't do it. Same with Semi, no reason he can't. I just hope they can do a serviceable job between them otherwise we're in trouble as you say. Especially as a team that has been losing tight games for a while now. Goal kicking can so often be the difference between a 22-20 win and a 20-16 loss....

You need a reliable goal kicker. Its a 4 point start every game.

Former Parramatta Eels football manager Jason Irvine has been charged over the salary cap scandal at the NRL club.

NSW Police arrested the 42-year-old in Leichhardt on Monday and charged him with knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime, dishonestly obtaining property by deception, and acting with intent to pervert the course of justice.

Irvine appeared at Newtown Local Court on Monday and was granted bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday.

The salary cap scandal reportedly involved merchandise sales and inflated invoices being used to honour under-the-table payments to the NRL club's players.

I think if we're going to play Gutherson as a 6, then I'd adopt a game plan similar to the Cowboys, with Norman playing the same role as Thurston and Gutherson playing like Morgan on the right and French playing like Coote on the left.

I had also thought of that setup but remembered they have Granville at 9 and Coote can kick (can French?)who helps with that structure

In lower grades Bevan looked like more of a half to me the way he passed and his short kicking game. I doubt on the wing he has had a chance to use it. The few games he did get last season at the back he did not execute either well,

Not only that but Norman isn't Thurston. Stuck in the middle he'll touch the ball a lot more, like Thurston. But he will also lose opportunities to use his sweet running game.

Is he similar in ability to Ash Taylor when he was in the 20's? Hopefully he doesn't turn out like Luke Kelly whom you endorsed many years ago.

Sorry mate, I couldn't help it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Kelly showed more promise than what he achieved. I did say I would rather him ahead of Chris Sandow. Probably still would but they are both ordinary.

Yep, mentioned Croft about 4 months ago but he might be better suited to 7 with Norman at 6 so Gutho can move to the centres or fullback. Pretty sure Melbourne will go all out to keep him though as Cronk is coming to the end of his career.

He is definitely an organising seven. He would allow Norman to use his running game. Cronk renewed his contract and Munster looks to have sown up the halves spot. I doubt they will let him go but how long would he wait for Cronk.

Kelly did look ok his first season, his kicking game was on a dime. Isntead of improving he went backwards.

I feel Dargan might be a good one.

We'd be better off though with something that closer resembles the Cowboys structure than something that resembles any of the other Top 4 sides. We essentially have one genuine natural kicker only.
