Whoopde doooooooo Basil!!

4 finals wins in 11 seasons lol. 'No could do a better job than Brad"

lollllllzzzzzz.
Those 11 seasons came off the back of two wooden spoons. Started from a very low base.

The previous 11 seasons started in 2003, after six consecutive years in the finals.

In those 11 years we got an extra 2 finals wins.

What are Brian Smith and Daniel Andersons finals record at Parra?
It was a different game when Smith coached. Most clubs were barely professional and there was only one superclub. Smith was head coach and GM rolled into one. An absolute genius, and still had us 1 from 5 in preliminary finals.

Anderson rode the squad that Smith built for a 100% preliminary finals record. How did he never get another NRL gig?

Can you write a poem before the last round.
Battle of the spoon
Got AI to write me one.

The Spoon Bowl Blues

Beneath the western Sydney skies,
The Eels once dreamed of glory’s rise,
But fate is cruel, and fans must weep,
As losses pile in endless sweep.

They fought through rounds with weary legs,
But hope ran dry like shattered dregs.
The final game, a bitter blow—
The Tigers stood, the fiercest foe.

They called it “Spoon Bowl,” loud and clear,
The wooden spoon was drawing near.
A rivalry, with pride at stake,
But Parra faltered, sealed their fate.

The Tigers roared, the scoreboard burned,
And with that loss, the Eels returned
To wooden spoons, their sorry crown,
Once more, they wore the season’s frown.

Fans groaned and sighed, the bitter sting,
No finals dreams, no joy to bring.
The Spoon Bowl loss, forever known,
That tragic mark the Eels have sown.

Yet even in defeat so grim,
There’s still a light, though faint and dim.
For Parra’s faithful know one day,
They’ll break the curse and find their way.

But till that time, the truth is clear,
The wooden spoon draws ever near.
Once more they fall, the season spent,
But hope endures—though broken, bent.

Tbf Ricky lost 2 winnable GFs the Roosters went in favourites in

If anyone should have won a 3peat it was the Roosters 2002-2004.

They underachieved winning 1 premiership in that 3 year period.
They weren't that good. They were only minor premiers once. Grand final is just about luck on the day. They were lucky in '02 and unlucky in '03 and '04. But his finals record in those three years was 8 from 10. Ten is a small sample but it's a lot bigger than just the three grand finals.
Then Ricky got full control after Freddy retired and Gus left then took them down to 14th and got punted in 2006 within 2 years after 3 GFs.

That's when the salary cap was actually doing its job.
It just shows the importance of star players and senior leaders.

Your happy with near enough…..that’s the problem with Parra fans, apparently the above is something to crow about, I see it much differently, the one that counts never eventuated, and never looked like happening, anyway u b u and if that pleases u that all that matters
Near enough seems to be fine for some coaches (Smith, Anderson) and not for others.

If BA wasn't getting the help or team why stay?

His legacy is finishing last in the year he was sacked with the team being absolutely ripped apart.

He had a good run didn't win a competition which is the only metric when you are a club for 11 seasons. Will do ok in the UK
His legacy is 137 wins in the NRL. I don't watch every week thinking the result is pointless if we don't win the comp that year. You need to enjoy life while it's happening.

How many of those games were against a cheating Storm??? We might of won a comp or two. We never ever looked a contender under baldie, fluking a GF didn't change that.

lol avoid the question. You said it’s harder to win finals games at Parramatta, not preliminary finals. What you should have said is its hard for Brad Arthur to win finals matches.

White Sands or Scarborough Hotel was my go to, always had live bands on
Yeh hood stuff.
Great part of Oz. As a single fellas we used to sit out on the deck that faced the beach and watch the bikini girls walk across the road and into the hotel. Some who new us would walk straight up the stairs and sit with us.
Come to think of it, I must have been some sort of chick magnet back then. ;)
I wasn't a surfer as such but swimming in that clean water with a picturesque setting was a site to be experienced.
The Ocean Beach Hotel was great for a Sunday session, listening to a solo guitarist and sinking pints of redback mmmm
