A reporter just before the season started asked BA about the forwards and he replied that he was happy with what he had and you'll be surprised how they'll perform. BA was full of confidence in them. Well they have certainly surprised us with how they are going, bloody awful.

Manly and the Dogs have huge forwards and they’ve been shit too. You can’t just spend all your money on forwards. You need a balanced team.

Our best attacking forwards are currently all injured or in reserve grade sorting their fitness out.

It was the varying levels of certainty I was referring to. To refuse to accept that he was dropped purely on form rather than injury impacting form presents a certainty that wasn’t evident in your follow up post that:

injuries likely had an influence on form.

The two often go hand in hand and I’m inclined to believe that it was the case with Evans.

He was a standout in the Newcastle trial so did he just get aids in those two weeks that made him so unfit to perform at his best for round 1???

Like I told you, we had all the ball during his stint against Newcastle. In the early rounds we spent the entire time tackling while Evans was on the field. Then he f**ked his ribs.

Hey, mate. Why do you think it would be so shockingly, terribly aweful if BA did make a mistake in that regard? I don't (as I pointed out in my previous post).
After all, he is a fairly inexperienced head coach with a lot on his plate and few assistants. It would be plain crazy to think a guy in that position.is infallible. I don't want his head, as you seem to think. Just saying it's quite possible that he underestimated the loss of Radradra and over-estimated the performance of our forwards. After all, most of us on this forum did (except for a few fairly astute posters - I wasn't one of them - they're called death riders). Chill out, mate. BA might be a lovely guy and a very good coach in many ways; but at the end of the day, if reports are correct, he gets paid somewhere between 5 and 10 times my salary to do this job. He's not immune from criticism.

I, for one, thought Semi was going to be a huge loss - but in all honesty, I never expected his loss to be this huge.

I reckon Arthur thought he could find adequate cover for Semi in Auva'a, George Jennings, Greg Lelileisuao, etc, and has found out the hard way that Semi was, to be blunt, irreplaceable.

It is certainly possible that injuries have progressed as the season has worn on but I don’t think he was any more injured than our other middle forwards for the first few games.

To refuse to accept the possibility that he was dropped purely on form is a little narrow viewed IMO. You may not think it is likely but it is certainly a possibility. After all, he did spend time in the ISP Cup last year.

Just my opinion, of course - but I reckon Arthur knew Semi would be a huge loss, but maybe underestimated just huge big a loss he would be.

Then again, like Baz said - Semi was so far ahead of the other wingers in the comp that nobody could have replaced him anyway.

French also didn’t play for Wenty when dropped so that means nothing. It is entirely plausible that BA is managing egos by not trotting them out for Wenty.

That said, I think his form has been rubbish and may still have been rubbish if he was 100% fit. But he wasn't. Also, I am basing my assessment on watching the games rather than someone else's report.

I saw highlights of the trial, and it was all positive. I didn’t watch Saturdays game and I haven’t even commented it it because I didn’t watch it. Unfortunately I’ve sat through the rest of the season. We never once heard anything about Evans fitness until Pou decided to tell us all how unfit he was.

Noise has inside info and he was a stand out in the pre season apparently.
