Hayne, Moses and Dylan Brown have/had publicly stated that their preference is/was to stay. This usually means that they will take unders and not go to the highest bidder. Has Gutherson ever said this? I can’t recall.

I thought Hayne was still in the Colonial Klink ? & he was recently moved to a white collar prison in Como ???

Barnstorming Eels back-rower Isaiah Papali'i looks set to knock back a massive approach from the new Dolphinsfranchise for 2023, leaving his future a two-horse race.

Papali'i's manager Daniel O'Loughlin has told Wide World of Sports that the much-improved forward doesn't want to leave Sydney.

That reduces his options to staying at Parramatta or accepting a big offer from Wests Tigers.

"Isaiah is settled in Sydney with his family and prefers to stay here," O'Loughlin said.

"The Tigers are very keen but he also feels a loyalty to Parramatta so will probably give them the last say.

"I think they are meeting this week so we will see what they come up with."

Papali'i was one of the big improvers of 2021, helping the Eels into the top four with his aggressive forward play in attack and defence.”

That sounds a more balanced comment from Ice's manager. Refreshing actually.

Paywalled, however I believe that they are trying to sell the idea that Ponga will go to 6 and Gutho to FB.

The link in the twitter bypasses the paywall. Not a mention of the possibility of Gutho going to Newy in the article. No new info at all.

Danny Buderus has given the biggest hint yet that superstar Kalyn Ponga could be in for a halves switch, leaving Newcastle on the lookout for a new fullback.

While Wests Tigers halfback Luke Brooks has been touted as a potential replacement for Mitchell Pearce, Buderus, the club’s general manager of football, said getting Ponga in the halves could be the best way to strengthen the side’s attacking structures.
“There are options, there are … we don’t necessarily buy a halfback or do we go another way and buy a fullback,” Burderus said.

“All the different options we will get to weigh up. We have a lot of work to do.

“The way we play, the more times Kalyn Ponga touches the ball, the better the team is going to be. It is about how we structure our attacking processes with Kalyn Ponga getting the ball a lot of the time.”
Buderus also revealed club legend and Immortal Andrew Johns, who is into his first week back at Newcastle on the coaching team, could have the last say in Ponga’s move.

Johns has been at training two times a week and is assisting coach Adam O’Brien in changing the Knights’ attacking structures ahead of next season.

“We’ve got Joey here on Mondays and Tuesdays … the attacking structures are changing a little bit and they are getting their head around that,” Buderus said.

“We are only in week three but all the experienced guys come back on the 24th [of November].“
And more blah blah blah

It doesn't have to be quoted in an article....it's obvious they all want more money than their previous contracts.

Only problem is, they haven't achieved anything since there last contract to justify more money.

They should only get slight upgrades, and nothing more....if they can get more at another club, then goodbye.
They have displayed more consistently better footy. That's what increases demand and raises their value, not premierships. The premiership is just a byproduct of playing good football, plus some luck. Do you think Edwards is suddenly worth more than Gutherson because he won a premiership? Trbojevic has won a single finals match in his whole career. Is he worth f**k all because of it?

At least if Guth goes we might finally get to see what Dylan Brown can do, bit hard to show much when you have to push your skipper out of the way to get the ball……….
The stars shine when they get early ball against a retreating defence. They only merkin at our club who ever gets a run after a quick play-the-ball is Gutherson.

On the flip side u could bench them and play their replacements if there’s good youth coming through in those positions

It's the playing out in the media thing mate. He has done it twice now. If he didn't agree with it he would have demanded his manager zip it. But by his manager going all quote happy he has then obviously endorsed it. He is our club captain, so why would he allow and be a party to such headlines? It is a very ordinary thing to do to a club that he supposedly loves and is the leader of and a terrible example to show to all the other player coming off contract. It smacks of every man for himself and bugger the consequences.

He of course has a right to negotiate the best deal he can workout with his employer, but as a leader to condone and give fuel to click bait headlines that he is mature enough now to know would follow by a group of piranhas that are RL journos is very poor form indeed.

Moses was young and immature when he renegotiated his previous contract and therefore he allowed it to get away from him through his manager. This last time however he showed that he learnt his lesson and realised that letting it play out in the media, actually worked against him and the club that he actually wants to play with. So he did the right thing and advised his manager of his intentions and very little if anything leaked into the media. Gutho on the other hand learnt nothing and has allowed his manager to double down and given him license to make both of them look like tossers with all the malarkey that he has been spewing out to the media.

No savvy fan believes a word of what his manager is telling the press. Even if some of it is true, who would believe or trust a player manager whose profession is to bluff and spin bullshit so as to manipulate the situation enough to squeeze out the best possible deal for both himself and sometimes his client?

Gutho in the end may get the deal he was angling for, but he will have lost so much respect and affection by a large portion of the fans that once adored him. The only thing to come out of this whole process is that he has managed to re-enforce the perception that he is a selfish and greedy man that that loves the headlines and tries to hide behind his manager and his natural super human fitness that allows him to excel on the football field. But by him doing this again and allowing it to play out through the media it has only soured his character to many of us no matter how well he plays.

From now on when he does the Gutherino or dons a new hairdo all many will see is a desperate and selfish man trying to pose off again. Not a smart man.

Unknot your knickers mate.

What you've got here is pure supposition fuelled by a handful of basically harmless quotes from Ayoub, and literally no input from the bloke you're judging at all.

And you're doing that all on the basis of what you've read in the mainstream media.
