Sounds like Tigers have signed Bateman. Unsure if we were chasing him but we are really needing a strike back rower and back.

We already have Lane, Matto, Murchie and Hopgood on the books for next year.

From round 4 one of them will be coming on the bench next year anyway. So our depth in the backrow is covered your not going to convince a elite backrower to join at this stage.

Brown and Cartwright are obviously exploring options and I dare say our hands are tied until there future is sorted.

Frizzled at the right price would be fine. Just don't see it happening. We wouldn't want to pay more then 350k for a year or maybe a 2yr deal with another 250k for his final year.
Knights would have to chip in atleast 300k to get the deal done.
I'd say he is worth the gamble at those figures.

His stats are not too bad from 2022. Same running meters as most years. I didn't watch him closely but its hard in poor sides to notice who is going well.
He also played 21 games and 80 mins in many of those.

If we do have some good young kids who aren't ready untill 2024/2025 maybe a stop gap helps. But I'd rather we chase a few young talented players.

His club form has been average for years, even when he was a walk up starter for NSW. Hard pass for mine. And Tapau is well past it massive no for him as well.

I was told a couple of times over the last few years that we have been interested or spoke to Frizzel. At least one time his management initiated it.
I’d be open to it, depending on cash and length of contract. But if he is in fact busted, it wouldn’t be worth it.
If his body is upto it i think we could get some decent footy out of him.
But he has played hard…

Yeah, Frizell could be a great signing. He is still at least a solid first grader. It all depends on how much he would be paid.

The idea that he is a poor signing because he is past his best is f**king stupid. At his best he was an automatic Origin selection, so being worse than that doesn't mean he's no longer good enough for first grade. And no club will pay him based on what he was worth three years ago. Why would they? Everyone knows how old he is.

I think their cap is top heavy and they are looking to bring in solid first graders to minimise the number of reserve graders they have to put on the field every week. To afford that they need to get some overpaid (former) Origin players off their books.

I wouldn't say broken but declining. Seems to have peaked in running metres at least in 2020 and going downhill since. Only 2 or 3 line breaks this year and more missed tackles than any season before
I always thought he was a bit overrated. Looks good running it but not great stats. Alright recently though, and fantasy points suggest he's still putting in so could be okay at the right price.

Yea but he obviously can play on the edge as evidenced by how many games he’s played there and his success in that position. Hopgood hasn’t shown anything that he might be a good edge forward in first grade.
