Says it all really.
Richo is really getting behind Benji by removing any obstacles or distractions including staff.
He did say in an interview, that he always backs the coach. Which is fair enough, but we have had some shockers (Sheenius) in charge, that didn’t turn out to well.

But I guess it’s the coach who gets the chop first.

I don’t know if that means we won’t have a recruitment manager, I would think the coach has a fair bit on his plate, then worrying about pathway and others?

This sacking would have surprised absolutely nobody. I put no blame on Fulton....this is all the previous leadership's doing.
I'd say Fulton would have started packing his bags once Lee/Pascoe left. He'd have been looking in the classifieds for job openings over this Christmas period.
This was undoubtedly inevitable. The way he was appointed by the 2 knuckleheads behind sheens/benjis backs was diabolical & fraught

To'a is another centre who can play direct. This year he worked his way through tackles several times. He's deceptively strong and difficult to tackle. He and Olam would make a tasty combo.
The rumour about Carr might suggest that we might be unsure about Solomon Alaimalo and Lobb.
If they are are worried about development why a 1 year contract for Solomon? Could be just to cover depth? Bringing over a rugby convert is not ideal for an NRL depth player.
Solomona Faataape signing is an interesting one. Have we doubts on Feledy's future?
Is Solomona just a centre?
I saw in these highlights that he wore the number 5 a couple of times. Solid lad.

I hope he proves me wrong but I don’t think Feledy will cut the mustard in the NRL

Im sure a replacement recruitment manager will be signed up. The big difference will be that it will be approved by all important parties (coaching staff and ceo). I feel for Fulton being signed in the circumstances he was signed in.

Agree, but you don’t want a yes man either, I think debate is healthy, so you get another viewpoint of the situation, but as I said, it’s Benji’s head on the line and he should have final say on options in front of him.

We have all had to work with people we may not have liked. He did come with a supposed very good reputation.

Hypothetically, what if he wanted to bust our cap on a particular player, would it be allowed?
The supposed current best coach in the world did that to us.

Anyway, it is what it is and we move on.

I think Richo was brought in to sort out the crap, initially in the short term and that includes recruitment like he had a hand in the Luai deal.
I think once things settle down and the Olam deal or anything else they are working on, a recruitment manager will be appointed.
One thing that puzzles me is the overlap of appointments like I just said with our CEO and recruiting.
What about Matthew Betsey our Interim Head of Football. I guess his role is the administration side side of things for the NRL and NRLW. What is that?
Is it organizing transport to Tamworth and gatorade bins of electrolytes? Or does he have any imput into who we recruit/play.

WT won’t pursue a replacement for Fulton, instead deploying a recruitment committee comprised of Richardson, Marshall and interim head of football Matthew Betsey (SMH)

Richo mentioned this type of thing on his first interview, the follow up of it was, he always backed the coach?

I don’t mind, as long as it works, just not sure who keeps their finger on the pulse, when someone may be coming available.

Twitter running hot:
WT are expected to land Storm centre and Papua New Guinean international Justin Olam on a multi-year deal imminently, pending medical assessments this week (SMH)

Wonder what multi year means.
I’m guessing, this will cover his 3 years from Melbourne?
He’s 30yo atm.
I hope his body lasts. His game doesn’t allow for prisoners, does it.

I'm perplexed...

I watched the hour long Ask The Boss podcast the other day of Pascoe and Fulton saying how they're doing everything amazing for the club, there's no issues and everyone gets along great. Fulton also made a massive point about how there is no issue between Balmain and West's at all and that is was a load of media crap that theres any issue between him and Benji.

Then I immediately listened to Lees phone call to Voss the day after the board was sacked. You know.... Where he said there's so much scheming going on behind people's backs and the West's and Balmain sides don't get along...

... And today Fulton gets the sack.

Was Pascoe a guy with good intentions but is too business orientated for footy types? Or is his view of it as a business counterintuitive to what we actually need?

This is what I was eluding to with my post #22,388 about Betsey wearing two hats.
