I really like the Olam signing. I don't see this as an epic, long term solution to our backline. It's a signing to add experience, drive standards and transition a younger player into his role in the next few years.

It's a shame that Blore has to leave, but he's stuck behind Bateman and Papali'i, plus has never really been able to string enough first grade games together to prove himself. Now he's got Fainu to contend with, and even Seyfarth tbh...so moving to Storm makes a huge amount of sense.

Absolutely Brother.
If he can stay fit it's an incredible signing.
I would imagine he would raise the bar at training having come from the Storm's system which is renowned for hard work and professionalism.
This will be huge for blokes like Feledy, Lobb, Alaimalo, Saukura even the plethora of halves.
If Feledy and co do end up in the NRL side they'll benefit from Olam's experience and hardness.

I’m hoping Olams problems are all mental. Something like what happend with Nofa after his head knock. Maybe treated with no empathy with no allowances given for what was the nastiest crunch and twist head knock tackle I’ve ever seen. Olams prob not too far behind. Both of them brain damaging. Bellamy perhaps with his impatience with Olam and sheens with his mind only on himself and how he looks may have contributed to the on field outcomes
The cultural difference with Olam may have just made him crawl back into his shell. If so with Benji’s ability for empathy he could be the best possible coach for both players. At least the two players can relate to each others experience.

I said hi after you were talking about the ignore function just to see if I was on ignore :D
I'm relieved to see a response to my hello

To be honest you were on my ignore list for a while but I checked your messages every now and then and after you stopped slamming other posters and got on with talking footy I was keen to hear what you had to say.

Any aggression from anyone will trigger my ignore response either here or in real life.

Yeh that's cool mate. Sorry for reacting the way I did. I let my guard down.

I got caught in the anger game with a couple of posters in this forum last year. It's hard to stay out of it and I have been mightily tempted over the past few months.
There are two guys I have ignored then read their posts for a while who I permanently ignore now. Their occasional good post isn't worth the mass rubbish that is either aggressive, negative or really unappropriated.

Anyway Nutz I have no ongoing issues with you. I often enjoy your footy thoughts and sense of humor.

Cool Ned, that makes me feel warm and fuzzy ha ha.
You never got back to me about Ned Kelly...is he of interest or your common nickname.
I'm into Aust history but have never been to his well known places, on the bucket list though.

Olam's statement, “I’m keen to put in the work and win the trust of the boys and the coaches at training, and hopefully contribute to what the club is building.”

That's an encouraging statement.
He's getting on a bit now and I see this as his swansong so he'll have to put in the hard yards if he is to recapture the form of past years.
Fingers crossed he does because it will give our new spine some much needed back-up out wide.
In defense of our previous halves poor form, they really didn't have much to work with.
The backline is now shaping up as a good roster.

Never looked forward to the trials games as much as I am this year.

How will the halves go? How will Olam go? What about the brothers from Manly, the centre from Queensland, the winger from union? Young guns on their way up?

So exciting.

Roll on the 18th of Feb !
How bad was Brookes?

I never saw your question before.
I chose Ned Kelly after my childhood hero Noel Kelly who was given that nickname.
I had a fairly disturbing childhood ( not looking for sympathy) and Ned used to get out on the field and bash anyone who gave his team mates a hard time. Not only that, even though I was about 10 years old he would greet me with a "Gidday mate" and chat to me about my thoughts on the team standing outside the changing sheds at Pratten Park.
Tough as nails on the footy field. Absolute gentle man off it.
To this day he remains my real life version of Super man.
