If we get walloped, prepare for the “I told you so” crowd.

I think a first up win, is important though, for both players and fans confidence, I am a firm believer that the coach can only get you ready to cross the white line, what happens after that is on the players.

The players are well paid and should have the skills to play the game, it comes down desire and discipline imo, to want to do the hard stuff for your mates and your club.
Kent did offer an end to Benji criticism. If he can get the Tigers to finish top 3 with what Hooper describes as possibly the worst roster in the camp.

What could be fairer than that.

If I was one of the other journos on 360 I'd tell Kent to stop yelling.
As you eluded to he's forgotten his place already.
If someone went through the ordeal of being persecuted for being a domestically violent person you would think that after returning to work, he wouldn't demonstrate traits of a dominant ruthless person.
Sounds like a duck.
Looks like a duck.

Kent was found to be innocent. Why should he tone it down when he was falsely accused of domestic violence.. Why would you encourage women to humiliate innocent men by accusing them of heinous crimes in front of the world. We’ve already had Josh Reynolds, who played for WT found to be innocent of DV accusations..Should he tone it down as well.
Many women deserve justice and don’t find it, but there’s also a heap of innocent men behind bars for years because of vindictive women.
I guess your sympathy for suicide victims only includes young girls. Men can just deal with shit right? Geez mate. Some things you say make good sense. But maybe sometimes just think about what your posting or even not post.. And consider backing your own.

Kent’s could be right about the lack of bulking up and weight lifting over the offseason..Benjis never been a “merit of muscles” guy. For himself at least. I noticed on tick tick the team were doing dead lifts. The weak man’s squat..

Hooper is just a muppet mate, he says what the DT and Fox want him to say.
Both he and other journos on that show suck up to Kent.
Kent quiet often adlibs and that's when he sprukes unsubstantiated crap then tries to back peddle or change tac. [Tack?]
When he starts shouting I tune out.
I'd rather listen to ol buzz, he too says some dumb things but at least he's not threatening by nature and yells at the top of his voice.

We’re in the same position as the Dragons were last week, but we’re even more desperate because we’ve collected the past two wooden spoons.”

What's with the WE. arsehole, you dropped the club years ago.
Stop talking Benny, it's not your strong point.
One of the greatest hookers oat, one of my favs, but lousy at public speaking.

Benji Marshall shed tears when Lachie Galvin was presented his debut jersey by his family – then later bristled when asked about his work ethic as a new coach.

“You don’t play 347 NRL games if you have a poor work ethic.”

Don't let them get to you Benji, they are just employed people with a title that makes them think they know everything, I stopped watching Foxtel years ago,.

For all their faults and there are many, I prefer to hear what Gould, Fittler, Smith, Billy, & JT say. Well not everything and not always 😵💫

Behind a fire wall for me guys.

I’ve just uploaded that coaching insider discussion on the game day thread.
Agree, the journo whoever he was, was a goose, with the sort of questions he was asking, Benji handled it well.

He should have rolled his eyes in utter contempt and asked for the next question.

No one is going to ask him about his work ethic if the side is performing.

At any rate, we’ve had a series of coaches put in 24/7 or whatever and we’ve gone 100 mph backwards.

If he can squeeze out some quality plans and advice that is then reflected on the park in performance and wins, I don’t care if he manages to spend an hour a week at work and then goes surfing for the rest of it.

And I'll take it out of the 2024 Coaches thread. :)
The good ol Rumours dumping ground.

“you don’t play 347 games with a poor work ethic” will be a good catch phrase for all this year to remind journos of their inadequacies.

Scoop should have waited until Benji had a lost a game before trying that shit on.

Maybe Benji should do an hour a day on LU to help him unwind.

Do some moderating.

I loved that comment by Benji
Yeah, it was a good hit out for him with the press!

Whether or not he’s the best choice for coach ( which many of us doubt) - the proposition that he’s not working hard is not only wrong but extremely insulting.

And if and when any NRL coach takes a breather and some time for themselves and family, I think it’s a very good thing, because otherwise the pressure is astronomical.

Also, some limited time out of the bubble is invaluable and helps with perspective.

Madge couldn’t find a way out and as we know, some of the stories about his angry and unhappy demeanour towards the end there were troubling.

Key people and players deliberately avoiding him, not the best.

And Tim’s departure-almost slithering and slinking away quietly as he could, and not facing the music, well it all seemed too much for him tbh.

Terrible pressure.

I think we’ve approached this season a bit more realistically, expectations more measured.

He has it in him, been saying it for a while.
If we fail this year it will be more of a poor/rebuilding roster.
I'll reserve my judgement till the end of next season.
No matter how much we respect Benji, noone will save him if we do a 3peat followed by missing the 8.
It's the nature of the beast... professional sport that is.

Throwing Galvin in so early in the season, it’s hard to get my head around it.

I’ve heard his stated reasons, but I think Benji has much more going on than what he’s telling us.

Sensational selection in a newsworthy way.

Their halves look a bit dodgy, I get that.

He’s up for it no doubt, but I don’t want any long term damage.
