I just pray that we can secure this pack and keep our best backs for some time (Bula). We have to build cohesion.
I'm not a Brooks fan but to his defense he has had so many changes to his forward, backs and coaches.
We have to field the best possible team and stick to it. Make minor changes as needed. Those changes are when you spoon feed your reserves and development players into the NRL to cover injuries. They are better for the short stints to get a taste of first grade.
Relying too much on these guys can be detrimental to both player and team.
Top teams have a sound NRL squad but you see little cameos now and then during origin and suspensions/injuries.
This leads me into saying, hey Tim, give Josh Feledy a couple of games.

I think you're dreaming with all of those, particularly Moe. I couldn't see him wanting to come here after what happened with his brother.

I didn't look at 2024, but of those off contract this year, Drew Hutchinson would be my pick. Brad Parker would be my other pick, if we aren't going to use Josh Feledy or Triston Reilly in the centre position Talau is vacating. Billy Smith or Billy Burns could be an option there too. If we aren't going to extend Charlie Staines, then I wouldn't mind having Jordan Pereria or Richie Kenner for depth.

I did say it was from Santa ha ha. I thought of Smith, he goes alright.
Next year we could use some players at the top of their game but in the long term we need players like Bradman Best type centres that have years at the top.

Is anyone seeing glimpses of Benji and Sheen's influence in the backs.
Sullivan, Fainu, Bula, Tupou all have free flowing running games. If Laurie was staying you could throw him in the too.
There are others too like Da Silva.
Unfortunately Noffa looks like he's running on rollerskates these days but with modern day defensive structures it's important to have some running talent. Walsh from the Broncos is a classic example.

Tigers abandon five-year plan inside 12 months with Sheens to stand down as coach

The Wests Tigers’ five-year plan is not going to plan.

Tigers coach Tim Sheens is reportedly set to stand aside at the end of the season and hand the reins to Benji Marshall 12 months earlier than planned.

The Tigers board have made the call to move Sheens into an ambassador role after concerns were raised by key stakeholders over the direction of the club.

Sheens was meant to coach the Tigers for 2023 and 2024 before his assistant Marshall took over for the following three seasons.

Sheens has thrown his support behind Marshall starting his head coaching career early but thought he’d be returning to his role as general manager, according to The SMH.

The 2005 premiership winning coach returned to the club in that role last year and was then named head coach after Michael Maguire was sacked.

But it things haven’t gone to plan for the Tigers and with just three wins from 21 games they’re near certainties to collect a second straight wooden spoon.

“It is indeed regrettable that I find myself having to speak of these matters publicly,” Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis told The SMH.

“But there have been internal discussions about expediting the transition of Benji into the head coaching role which is something that was always contemplated.”

Seriously now, how many of you thought that the original Sheens/Marshall coaching plan was going to play out. Surely we all new that Benji would take over early.

If the results were better, than he would’ve stayed coaching, but we got what I expected from him.

I actually thought under circumstances he handled himself ok but as you said the proof is in the pudding.
We all saw Marshall conducting the show in the coaches box with Tim in the back ground probably mentoring, I don't know. But what he did well is keep Benji out of the media and keep the pressure off him.
I've said it before, how would we have gone with the same squad and Bellamy at the healm. I don't think we would have got the spoon twice and he would have recruited better.
