Disappointed if Lats goes (because he seems like a genuinely nice guy) and has put in for the club. But as others have mentioned

1. Why stay if you can get a starting position somewhere else.
2. We are not short on props, at all. Weyman, Merrin, Hunt, Stockwell, Gower, De Belin (it now looks like), Kem Seru coming through the NYC.

Forwards are covered, outside backs are covered. It is the half-back recruitment that is the thorn in our side.

Evening lads,

100% agree with you Fire.

Mr Red your posts a good one too but I think the menace of the monster pack of the Rooters is offset by leaking 400ish points in defence so maybe a balance of real grunt and workmen could be a winner. De Belin looks like a mongrel in the making, tough kid who looks to play without fear.

Cheers

Regarding Mitchell Pearce,I think if Sandow got around the $500,000 per season at the Eels then I think Pearce would be deserving of that amount.
Pearce is a better all round player than Sandow in my opinion and maybe a different club would freshen his game up.

I rate Pearce and I think he does have the potential to play better than the one dimensional stuff we saw in Brisbane. But he's still learning imo. He was possibly pushed into the limelight too early as a young bloke.

It's a fair call to say NSW lost the Origin decider in the halves, of course it helps when the forwards get on top. But in Origin 2 it was different story - NSW had some momentum up front, I thought Pearce came up with some clever plays. So he's got the goods, just a question of improvement imo.

The club does not spend that sort of bread on players , for us to get him he'd have to be at a Kmart price. Just thinking our last big price signing was as far back as Phil Hawthorne

Pearce has good passing and kicking skills. Solid defender too.

He however, has terrible organisational skills and is NOT a big game player. Never has been able to step it up that extra notch in those big important games.

What about Steve Rogers? Or Scott Gourley? But you are right, it's been a long time.

True that .... But Rogers on 80k and Gourley on 100 to 120 k were not the front page stuff of Hawthorne on 20k . Gourley we got at the time only because Brian Johnston got injured and retired in the pre season. Or at least thats what my faultering memory tells me?? But Rogers and Gourleys prices while up there were not excessive at the time . Same again with Ainscough..

With Hawthorne it was front page stuff and made even more dramatic because they signed Tony Branson at the same time ... Saints poach Hawthorne from Rugby for $20,000 ... Big news then now I just laugh because the average toyota cup kid probably makes more these days...

Yeah, but in those days you could buy a house in Blakehurst for $20,000.

An interesting one hit my desk this afternoon, that being Ricky Stuart is thought to be in serious talks with the Dragons.

This is following on from the belief that Trent Barrett will have a full time role with the Blues in 2013, freeing Stuart up but for the 3 weeks when Origin is on.

If my mail is good, expect to hear an announcement within the next few weeks.

Luke Lewis, would love to see that. But the guy didn't want to drive out to train with Souths if I recall. Would he want to drive to Wollongong?

Another Jennings, Pearce, Jeremy Smith rumour. Where do these rumours come from? Telecrap?
Yes todays Telecrap. If true we'd have the money, but I can't see it happening, we just don't seem to be able to sign big name players, particularly with a rookie coach and a tightwad CEO.
