Sutton manages Dugan
Mimis manages Packers
Different managers different Agendas.
Rainman44 said that Dugan may have agreed a 2 year deal which makes sense as at 2020 the salary cap would b upwards of $12M

Millward has been played by Packer and Dugan's manager. I hope he has learned from this very expensive mistake. What a mess.

If both players go its basically for money and if the Tigers are paying 700k for Packer they sure as hell are stupid and will have cap issue's again.

Same with Dugan if the Sharks want to give him a million good for them as he isn't worth that much.

I know you want to continue to question Millward and as tiresome as it is thats how players are these days money first loyalty a distant second.

So by January arrive at a contract price with the subject player's manager. If the offer is declined, take the offer off the table and seek an alternative.

We have missed so many opportunities to sign replacement players who are of equal or better quality than the subject players.

With no salary cap set for next year a lot of players have held off across the board in signing a contract early. This is not Milward's fault. The players also need to want to agree early and why would they in this environment, they seem to be being offered more and more money by the day.

I would suggest managing the salary cap isn't as easy as the statements you have made. A lot of people, probably more skilled in this area than you or me state how difficult the salary cap is to manage and for mine Milward seems to be doing an ok job.

If that is how the club operates then we will languish in mediocrity forever. This season we have built a good team around a strong forward pack. With the addition of Hunt next year we would certainly be a top 4 contender. However if we lose Dugan and Packer...he was inspirational last night....and perhaps others,.then lets start the rebuilding process again and blood young players for another 2 seasons and the same process will repeat itself all over again. Packer is a hardened, uncompromising, tough as nails forward who intimidates the opposition. Any young forward coming into our pack to replace him would take seasons to get to that level, that's why it is so important to keep him...

Not so, most of the well run clubs with professional management have not been in the position of trying to hold onto marquee players. In fact these clubs have tied up the players they want to keep and then gone to the market to further improve their squads.

I agree that Millward would be finding it difficult coming to grips with the task before him. I doubt he was the successful candidate chosen from a list of people who applied for the job via a public advertisement. It is the old boy nepotism at work with this one. Powerbroker dad arranged for him to get the job an Mary was kept on to make justification easier. Millward is in my opinion not capable of performing the duties in a satisfactory manner.

The results speak for themselves. We are about to lose two senior first grade players without alternative players being identified to fill the positions. What a mess.

He's responsible for signing Vaughan, Hunt, McIness and Sims as well as locking up all our promising juniors. I'd say thats the best recruitment haul this clubs ever had since Bennett came.

Him coming out saying we're giving Dugan centre money is his only mistake imo. It sucks how we didn't lock up Packer earlier but the salary cap wasn't decided yet and its unknown whether if Packer wanted to test himself on the open market.
