Sporting life are saying the Matto thing is nothing to do with money...apparently Madge pressured him to play injured when he thought he needed time off. So now he wants out. I guess the clubs who are willing to offer him plenty more have nothing to do with his call.

Get ready for the duty of care card and if that fails it will be the mental health card. One thing he will get a release...they always do
Hahaha!
Poor wimp , they pressured him to play injured lol...
And here was Farah PRESSURING the club to LET HIM PLAY injured !!!
FMD!!! I cant believe how wrong we judged this guy :rage:

How times have changed ... as mentioned about Farah , Lawrence caved his face in and did everything possible to play again and STILL wants to play ... I will never forget Benji sobbing in the dressing room when he realised he had discolcated his shoulder for the 3rd time and knew he couldn't play again for another season. Add Thurston who went through pain every game in the best years of his career... Gallen was walking wounded .. even Sharon Maria Hargreaves trys every fortnight to beat the Judiciary just to play .. and the list goes on.
And we move on to the piss weak gen Y today.. pretty dam sad.

Well I think we can take it as fact that there’s some sort of falling out happening. There’s never this much smoke without a bit of fire. My guess is it’s more to do with Matterson being moved to 13, as he openly stated when he came here it was to lock down an edge spot. The money also, which is generally what it all boils down too.

I really hope we don’t lose him, losing Matto and then gaining a Capewell or someone would be a massive downgrade. He certainly isn’t irreplaceable though. I’d happily give him to say Penrith for JFH.

Vic , if we had quality backs we wouldnt need to be so reliant on talented forwards . Ex the Storm ... hard pack and awesome backs.. they dont rely on show ponys in the middle .

I don’t mean to group all Christian’s into one type coz there are two types there’s the really good and the really bad ..the really bad just have all their own rules...and they will hurt anyone as badly and as selfishly as they want for their own gain ..Their is no limit..and their idea of right and wrong is just So obviously wrong so don’t look for logic here . ..His manager is probably in shock ..I mean who wants a guy that’s not going to play injured in a big game if he’s needed ...I’ve never heard of it before..In his mind he prob will be the greatest player the game has ever seen (even though he can’t offload during those post tackle metres) so he has to change clubs ..so don’t be surprised if Madge and O’Farrell bring him crashing back to reality..and he hasn’t got a leg to stand on..if he takes this to court he will be the laughing stock of the sporting world

Vic - on the official forum one poster stated Matterson asked to moved to the middle. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

I say we dig our heels in and keep him unless we get better.

I think that this is all a money grab.

I would be worried if he had one year to go on his contract, as he could just sit outa season as others have done in the past, but he is not going to sit out two years. So the club holds all the cards.

Of course there is a chance this is just a tea in a tea cup and the media have blown it right up and it all blows over. Let face it the media have bigger fish to fry with the Bronks being such a massive basket case

Every hypothetical scenario tossed up here places Matterson in a bad light.

* He wants more money - boo hoo! Wait 'til the deadwood is gone (and it won't be long), continue to play well and he will be upgraded and rewarded for his efforts.

* He was asked to play injured - boo hoo! Almost every player talks about being desperate to be on the park, and this guy is desperate for a rest. He never looked like he was playing with a major injury.

* He was played out of position - boo hoo! Earn your spot! If you can't take an edge spot off the likes of Lawrence, Garner, or Chee Kam perhaps you don't deserve it.

It could also all be bullshit.

If it is (all BS) why hasn't he come out and said anything?

I get where you are coming from. He should have said something. Both comments though can be true. It can just be a money grab and him and his manager are just speaking bullshit to try and get there way. He could also be a big sook.

So the latest "twist" in the credible journalism says Matterson has been a no show the last couple days ago

But wait...He's been sick and been ordered to take days off by the doc. And it's the off-season

Are we sure it isn't just a whole overreaction, like most journalism is these days? maybe one of the scenarios happened sure, but not to the extent it's been dragged into. It just sounds like typical anti-tigers agenda because we failed to make the 8 once again

The saga continues, though still looks like a bit of a media beat up.

NRL Market Scout: No show at training — the new twist in star forward’s standoff with Tigers

Ryan Matterson’s standoff with the Wests Tigers has taken an intriguing turn this week, with the star forward failing to turn up to training over the past few days.
Less than a week ago, reports emerged that the former Rooster was being targeted by rival clubs and that he was in the hunt for an upgrade.

Possibly the Tigers’ best performer in 2019, Matterson is said to be on $350,000 but such is his form he could easily increase his salary by as much as 50 per cent.

And mystery now surrounds this latest development, and it remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old is attempting to make a statement or not.

When foxsports.com.au asked Matterson’s agent Gavin Orr if the Tigers lock had failed to show up to training, he responded: “No he’s crook and has doctor’s orders to be off training”.

The club insist he was there on Monday.

Either way, it doesn’t look good, and will have other Tigers squad members questioning the player’s commitment to the cause.

Michael Maguire had instructed the Tigers to train for the weeks following their defeat to Cronulla right up until the grand final.

However, RLPA rules stipulate players are only allowed to train for two weeks following their final game.

Matterson has not shown up since the players returned on Monday this week and this new development will fuel further speculation that he wants to leave Concord.

One way in which Matterson could stay with the club on improved terms is the ongoing situation with Ben Matulino.

The Kiwi international played 13 games this year, but since a knee injury in Round 14 has not been seen in Tigers colours.

Such was the severity of the injury, there was talk the club might look to medically retire him.

It is understood that the club have now lodged paperwork with the NRL to do just that.

In doing so, the Tigers can free up significant cap space to the tune of $800,000, which would allow them to re-sign club favourites Benji Marshall and Chris Lawrence who are both off-contract.

It doesn't sound good but I think the club needs to show some balls. He can play NRL for the next 2 seasons with us, we can do a trade for him that is advantageous to us or he doesn't play and doesn't get paid.

Let's see what happens. The club showed some balls with Cleary.

Well that's the first time the club has reported anything so it's a lot more credible now.

If it comes out to be true and he wants to leave we absolutely need to play hardball and or if it's a replacement it needs to be like for like or better
