The coach may not publicly shit on his players in the pressers but whatever he and his staff are doing, behind closed doors where it matters, is strengthening their position to grab that wooden spoon, and thus lose their jobs.

The only thing I say against this is he used the injury excuse for the last 2 years and having to use young blokes. Well now he’s used those young blokes for 2 years and they look no better and still aren’t holding the fort for us.

The roster is rarely ever the biggest issue. Look at the Sharks. It didn't take a whole renewal of dressing room for them to become a force. One or two key signings and a proper head coach and they are challenging already.

Look how well the Sharkies are going. It's not about talent on the field, it's about their system and belief in the system. Our players have no belief whatsoever. Would Dan Saifiti turned up horribly out of shape for preseason if he had belief in the system and coach? Doubt it.

ya could be right on this. Would Watson, King, Barnett etc leave if they thought we were a good system capable of getting the best out of them and on the right track to a Premiership?

They're not just any players also, 2 of these guys are locals and 1 had a home and a network of friends and business in the area.

Talked about wanting to make them a mentally and physically stronger team, that meant getting them up early on random days, to do a training drill they weren't expecting, which there was method to his madness i.e. beating the heat up north whilst also challenging their time management and making them be prepared for the unexpected.

Meanwhile our coach says oh no we have a 6-day turnaround we don't have time for training sessions.

WOW, there's been breaking news on NRL 360 too, Willie Peters is off to the Super League to be Hull KR's head coach.

Win-win situation there IMO.

Really happy for Payton. Copped a bit for simply being a strong leader and coach and treating players AS players. Drew a line in the sand and basically told them to toughen the f**k up - do it my way or piss off. Recruited the blokes he wanted to execute his style and they are delivering so far.

They are flying and only getting better.
