Sack Adam O'Brien

My biggest concern with Flanagan is; has the game passed him by whilst he's been out of action?

Even though he won the comp less than 10 years ago, it's a very different game now compared to then. So I wonder whether he'd be hard headed on his older ways with our play style?

Other than that concern I think he did some great things at the Sharks.

All good points. But he knows how to build a quality side. His response to the losses would be vastly different to O’Brien’s. With the squad we have now he would expect more and not give as many excuses for losses. He would be more direct in pressers.
AOB yesterday offered more excuses and offers the players more leeway @04:12 https://www.nrl.com/watch/matches/telstra-premiership/2022/round-6/newcastle-knights/

The best ability after availability is surely accountability - most if not all points he mentions come down to ATTITUDE.

Cameron Ciraldo is worth a shot.
He’s not going to hang around as an assistant at the Panthers for the next 5 years.

Would he come to us? Would the board want to take another risk(?) and go for another assistant coach with no experience?

Well I can’t imagine he would want the gig at the Tigers?
If Barrett gets the sack no doubt Gould would try and get him.
Just have to get in early I guess.

I agree we have a shit squad, but we have a VERY good nucleus of a side ( top 4 ) It's the surrounding nuffies dragging the team down.
very accurate statement. If you gave any coach a core nucleus of Ponga, Best, Gagai, clifford, Frizzell, Klemmer, Brailey and Saifiti and asked them to build around that group you would expect a top 8 side, the issue is AOB has utterly failed at to assemble a good line up around that nucleus and failed miserably to put together a strong 30 man squad. I would be less scathing if he brought in money ball type players and those players just didn't work out but the fact we seem to be handing out squad places to locals again (Crossland, Hoy, Randall, Jones, Johns, Musgrove, Fitzgibbon, Saulo, etc) is what annoys me.

Last bit if input from a f**kwit rival fan but If you could somehow get Milf fullback fit it would improve your side 100%. Ponga isn't up to it

For a man who was taught by the best he should be emulating him but he seems to think he knows better. Well results say otherwise.

We have a heavily injured and compromised squad. Gags , Friz and Klem are all playing like the top tier players they are. The rest are dragging the chain. Club needs to grow it’s balls and actually pull KP’s offer. He has derailed the season with his BS. Club Is in total denial.
Can blame KP all we want, and I'm certainly not happy about it, but the club is the one who gave him this clause knowing very well it could be a circus and other big decisions will have to wait on Ponga's decision.

It is also just another excuse. I'd hate to think that's the reason the Saifiti's have been sub par this year.

If we don't put that clause in, we probably don't sign him.

It may have nothing to do with it at all but whatever has gone wrong over the off-season and the attention the club has drawn with KP’s contract, many players at the club don’t strike me as being able to shut that out. There is still the quit in them.
That final try by The Dragons yesterday is case in point. It was very very soft. They were still thinking why they did not get the penalty. Not let’s force the error and get the ball back. That is where O’Brien fails. He should highlight that very fact. Bellamy would have gone ballistic over that try.

Probably not. Just saying it's a bit unfair to blame Ponga for exploring options and taking his time when we permitted him to do what he's doing.

For sure. I would love to know why the decision has taken so long. It's not a distraction any team wants.
