It’s like he devises a plan pregame and has no ability to adapt during the game.
It does feel like this, but it's also like he doesn't trust his bench players to do a job.

Because of that he plays our top forwards for longer minutes but in turn that tires them and it's why we get f**king rundown at the end of a lot of matches.

Poor use of the bench is my only AOB gripe tonight. Croker should have been injected when the forwards were dominating in the first 30 minutes. Crossland playing way too many minutes and Randall only coming back on once the match was out of reach.

It’s like he devises a plan pregame and has no ability to adapt during the game.
I just don't like our bench period, 3 out and out middle forwards and a reserve grade halfback, Best got hurt and we have Barnett at centre.
Good teams have impact players and genuine utilities on their bench, we use our bench to make up the numbers

the buck stops with the coach

fact is they were doing fine until AOB got hold of them at half time, it happens often enough to make you wonder.

Also it's his roster

The missed tackle stat is a major issue though - NRL stats have it at 45.

Why is it so bad? There’s no doubt we’re well below must teams physically and can’t go toe to toe for any length of time when needed.

Besides that, we also have a number of blokes who are simply not good defenders and have been poor their entire careers. Just have a look at which players lead the MT stays most weeks. Have a look at the players with the most tonight.

And to top it off, we are simply a dumb footy side. The kid filling in for Reynolds has exceptionally poor defensive stats in QCup yet wasn’t tested tonight. Why?

Athletically we're a bottom 4 team for sure, the only genuine athletes we have in my opinion are Ponga, Young and Frizzell, most of the team are mid tier athletes, then you have a few like Clune, Crossland, and Randall who are bottom tier athletes. Secondly we have so many guys who only play one position and when an injury occurs like it did tonight they just cannot adjust.

They see him as a long-term coach of the club, and is one of the keys to build around. They know he doesn’t have the cattle - they can’t punt him after releasing our real key playmaker in January.

AOB is going nowhere.

Can we really say he was, though? Sure, hindsight is 20/20... but we took a punt on a coach that - to the best of my knowledge - had never been a head coach at any level before.
Well, the highest credentialed assistant and young coaches. Did a big apprenticeship at Melbourne and spent a year at the Roosters and always had glowing reviews.

So no, no actual head coaching position with proof of results but if there was someone to take a punt on he was the man at the time.

It's like saying if Fitzgibbon goes to shit at the Sharks over the next few years someone saying 'I told you so' when the reality is there would have been many wanting him to take the reigns of their club.

So yeah, it's easy to say I told you so with AOB now, but at the time we could have signed someone else and had the same results and be like I knew we should have went AOB.
