So your staying until Flanno walks in the building? Odour?
So it is not the decision to sign him that concerns you and forcing you to walk away. Odd
Yes the decision appals me and I hope that it changes before he does take up his position.

Hope springs eternal that either the BOD backflip or Flano makes a full and frank admission and unreserved apology.

There wont be any backflip now OT. I am glad it is done, not my 1st choice but my 2nd.
I am looking forward to see what he can build hopefully without one hand tied behind his back by Sir Haran and our BOD

My preference was Hasler but unfortunately, that was not what happened. I say give Flanno until the end of season 2024 and see what good/bad he brings to our club. I am confident he will improve the situation and give us hope of a brighter future.

We all know he can coach, he proved that at the Sharks by winning a competition. So it is a matter of whether he can work with the BOD and attract a good squad of talented and committed players.

I will premise the following with the fact SF was not my first or second choice of coach.

However, now he has been appointed, and I may add fortunately so, given the alternative options that were left standing.

A lot has been said about SF's past and some of it very relevant, and I can truly see both sides of the argument why he should or shouldn't coach.

In saying that, it's the NRL who decided and approved his reappointment to be a HC.

If I'm not mistaken, SF had to write a detailed letter to them outlining his reasons and mistakes he had made in the past. Unfortunately, or even fortunately, we aren't privy to that letter, and nor we should be. The fact that the NRL decided to rubber stamp him again, after a (was it 2yrs?) trial as an AC.

We cannot undo our sins of the past, all we can do is to move forward and attempt to learn from them.

I would assume SF knows he's on a very tight leash, and it could well be his 1 and only opportunity to redeem himself and forge a successful coaching career. Any deviation would spell the end of his career in many ways.

So, in this regard, I will give him the botd, and support as our HC.

BTW, I also wonder if Bennett or Bellamy would ever have a "sack _______" thread 🤔

Thoughtfully said Dragonslayer.

How people have judged SF would have their reasons and that is fair enough.

The decision has been made by the NRL to allow him to be a head coach and the Board of Directors of the club have unanimously agreed for him to be our head coach so now I think that the only judgement that should be applied is on his results starting next year.

Having a Sack thread on SF at this stage is well and truly premature and I doubt that Bennett and Bellamy would ever have Sack threads unlike us - which for a couple, were warranted.

Well worth a listen.

Key point from this interview I liked.

Summary not word for word.

1.) Are you worried about only having a 3 year deal ?
No, I intend to revamp this place and be here for 8 - 10 years and get the Dragons where they should be.

2.) Is your Manly job conflicting and can you start recruiting for Saints now ?
Manly I will work for until my contract is up and help them get to the semis. Yes, I am talking and dealing with rosters etc re Saints outside those hours.

Cliche' answers? maybe... but I found it very encouraging. The fact that he see's himself as the long term coach and ( on the face of it anyway ), is willing to take 3 years to prove his worth has me feeling optimistic.

A good listen, thanks @TruSaint . Good to hear that Paul Gallen isn't coming to the Dragons too! It's only been a week, but I liked what I heard.

Could be wrong thread but Fox reporting Hunt has asked for a release. Obviously Flanno’s phone call didn’t work

Bad start for the new coach when our captain and best player asks for a release the same week he is appointed. Everyone blamed the previous coach when a couple of yet to be proven rookies asked for releases last year, are we going to hold the new coach to the same standard or no?
