We also lost wishart and ford because of his poor communication and man management. Time will tell if this was good, but at the moment we let some good ones get away. Not sure regarding Garrick if it was in hooks time. poor communications don’t make a good head coach
Ford is similar to Host a workhorse without setting the world on fire, both had errors in them
Host now has great side around him
Garrick gone under Mary
Look where Tariq is now, cant get a start at Melb and they lost 3 of their best forwards to Dolphins

People talk about McInnes.
We in no way were going to match the money Sharks paid for him in order of 600-650+ reportedly
He was our hooker or could of been our 13. He has hardly played hooker or starting 13 since at the Sharks.

In all fairness and yes I think they did take their time, but McInnes was also trying to find any excuse not to stay there because we got rid of McPeanut
The rumour was he expressed his opinion of what he thought of sacking the peanut in favour of hook. Now, he may have been right about hook, but definitely not about replacing the peanut. However, it makes it difficult to stay in employed at your current job when your first interaction with your new boss is to express the opinion that it was a mistake to replace the old boss the new boss.

Regarding Garrick. He joined Manly in 2019, so it was under the peanut not hook. There were a few players that left before playing a game in FG, another was Daniel Herbert. The rumour was they couldn't see a pathway to FG under the peanut, and you probably couldn't blame them. The peanut was also responsible for driving away Robson.

Edit- and driving away Demetriou, Host, Leuilua, and Saab. I'm sure there are others!

Good point regarding the lack of FG at the sharks, but he did miss an entire year through injury.

Sharks paid too much for McInnes, a solid bench player. Hasn’t hurt them yet, but he won’t get that pay check again.

Losing Saab was no biggie. I like Feagai better and surely the fans would prefer Rava to Saab. Saab demanded 1st grade so Mary had no choice. Losing Jackson Ford and retaining Billy Burns is a big one for me. Ford hardly got a chance compared to Burns. Look at Ford now at the Warriors under a proper coach? Burns and Moga are Hook's favourites and will be 1st to go imo. Unless the new coach can get Burns firing as under Griffin you really cannot get a read on players and how good they are. He vould turn out to be a gun under a proper coach.

Cannot wait for the new coach to be announced whoever it is. The players will then get put on notice to perform.

I thought Moga was actually pretty good this year when he’s had his chances.

Tariq can't even make the 17 at the Storm.
That's surprising for me.
Ford had a few chances but i didn't really worry when he left.

Did he base his judgments on the ex coach or the new one?
Fair question Mojo, from what I remember he was getting disgruntled when rumour started that McGregor wasnt going to be there much longer and even before we knew Hook was taking over, Much in the Hunt vein .

We seen a positive in our footy rankings straight away with the sacking of Hook, we are FIRST yes 1st in 2023 in the NRL maybe it is only in the sacking of the coach but this is the highest ranking we have seen in a long long time and one they cant take away from us . God bless the Titanic and all who sail in her

Agree but Sharks can afford it with their sombrero. Their new development adjoining the leagues club and stadium assists in that regard especially the residential apartments
Hopefully Bruce's new large development in the centre of Wollongong will also be used wisely

Now that Hook is gone, there is big discussion about people that left our club (McInnes, Saab, Garrick, et al). But let's be fair. This is the nature of the game. Let's look at Penrith. How many top guys have left Penrith (Kikau, burton, Korosau, ...) and it will be the same with other clubs. The issue with our club is recruitment manager and pathways. Apparently the head coaching role is going to go to Ryles from what I hear. With the current squad we will get nowhere. There are some good players here but some dud ones (Mbye, F Molo to name few - they may have played State of Origin once upon a time, but their use by date day has come and gone). Once Head Coach is appointed, we need a gun recruitment manager that can work with the head coach and identify and recruit new talent.

If I remember correctly, Host had already made up his mind to go to souths before we had a chance to talk to him...

I remember mentioning to Georgedragon who asked Host directly ...

I had a source who confirmed it was a done deal...

Can't blame Jacob...Years of being stuffed around by Mary... He has improved @ souths

Many years ago that was public land but somehow the corrupt local council transferred ownership to the Sharks.

Sure...but how many players have left and gone on to flourish elsewhere...

A number of them told they were not 1st grade standard...

Shows we cannot develop players to their full ability...Bennett was the last coach who could...

Anyway, lets hope there are better days ahead... couldn't possibly get worse under the new coach next Year.
