Surely StG officials know Griffin has to go immediately. Appoint a new recruitment manager and interim coach if the preferred full time coach is currently unavailable and allow them time to recruit and re -sign players for next year. Lomax may not have been playing well but his replacement has been awful.
why Amone has not been dropped defies logic. Misses tackles and never makes a break meanwhile Sullivan fresh off 2 tries last week plays 20 minutes yesterday. Clearly The old droner has an issue with him or is it simply Hunt wanting the #7 ? Constantly playing favourites over more suitable players is no way to coach a football team.
So come on someone in charge and piss Griffin off.
You forgot also that Liddell is tearing the joint up in Reggie’s but the coach thinks Mbye is a far better proposition.

Weidler, Rothfield and the others are all just guessing. They are just lining up to say I told you so, aren't I clever. But I doubt they have any idea. Given how our Board thinks, it wouldn't surprise me if they said they will retain Griffin until the end of the year in line with prior commitments made to Hook, and in the interest of team stability. Things have to get a lot more rotten before a Board will admit they made a mistake.
No Doubt, but can you just possibly explain to me what their version of team stability is ?

I’m sad that things didn’t work out with Hook.

I think what this club needs is a coach/ directors that can attract top notch talent.

Under Hook, all we got was offcuts and pensioners. These offcuts were to be a short term solution whilst the next batch of Illawarra superstars came through. From what I can see, these Illawarra superstars are pretty mediocre, like everything else at this club. Was this all his fault? I don’t know.

was it his fault that players like Lomax and Bird turned into shitmerkins, or did he just inherit a bad bunch of eggs.

i won’t cheer because he’s getting fired. After 10 odd years of shit, we’ll see what the next coach brings.

I'm not sad, not one bit.

His treatment of Bud has been unacceptable. This began last year vs. the broncos during SOO where he told him to not play his natural game and not to kick. His poor treatment culminated in Sullivan being replaced at the 30th minute by Mbye, and not to be seen for the rest of the match despite only using one interchange.

His sacking of Liddle in favour of Liddle begars belief. All I can say is:

I'm not cheering on the recent rumours of Hook being ousted like in the next day or so because I doubt that this will actually happen (maybe I'm using reverse psychology here). The Board did stuff up by re-signing him for this year well and truly prematurely at the start of 2022. They are the ones who made the decision and gave very lame reasons for it which are printed somewhere in the Forum or the Dragons website.

They know that they did make a big boo boo and as such they are now trying to placate the fans and sponsors embarrassingly by giving us the spiel that they are interviewing potential replacement coaches but at the same time allowing Hook to re-apply. What effect would that re-application by Hook (if indeed he bothers to) mean to the club and the players? Would the application contain apologies for all his errors and will he be offering invaluable solutions to remedy the mistakes he has made so that they would feel pity on him and give him another chance?

For the Board to say to Hook that he can re-apply, it shows that they are not really that sure if they want to get rid of him. Are they being polite and sorry that the players they signed up maybe let him down and if better players were signed would he be more successful? Why bother giving Hook the chance again? They should just acknowledge that they made the mistake of re-signing him and just tell Hook not to bother re-applying. That way, we would then know that he will be gone forever.

I too am perplexed with some of the decisions he made around the players and recruitment. We all are confused as f**k as to how Bud being the best player against the tigers was hooked because of a sin bin that wasn’t his fault. I really wanted things to work out with Hook. Now because it hasn’t, that’s the 3rd coach in a row that hasn’t worked out.

I think the board is holding off firing him because they f**ked up by resigning him and don’t want to admit it by having to pay him out. Stupid merkins.

As much as it has been hard to stay positive, part of me still believes that this playing group can still salvage some pride in the jersey this year. Remove Hook from the picture (he lost the dressing room late last season), you will see a different attitude. The excuses for anyone in the group not performing are all but gone once the axe falls on him.

Interested now to see who will get interim. It may not happen - but I would like to see Sowie given a go (and I believe Beau Scott is also doing some defensive coaching work with the NRLW Team as well and should also be given a crack on the first team staff).
