Love it when people post positive stuff in this negative thread!
Go Dragons!
One day, someone will be the first to post the most positive post of all. And that will be the sacking of McGregor. I hope we don't have to wait too long for that one, positive post...

Next year will be make or break. If we fail next year its curtains for Mary.

The worst part is they will get credit when they finally do sack McGregor part way through next year when the season is already lost. Wasted time that's all that is happening now... then the rebuild can begin.

We thought that about this year.

We failed. He got an extension.

Never underestimate the incompetence of the decision makers at our club.
Yes and no. This year we were predicted to come 15th by the experts and we finshed 9th. Next year we are expected to finish top 8 so finishing outside the 8 will mean goodnight Mary. This year was just horrible timing. Who would have thought we would win 6 from 7 then fall apart?

And that should assist you in determining which group that Dragons fall into. Hint: it surely ain't one of the professionally administered clubs.

Right, so lets overlook every other aspect, lets over look the fact that we were smart enough to not f**k ourselves with the salary cap like some other teams did, lets overlook the fact that we have one of the best junior groups coming through that have all been resigned, lets overlook the fact that we have assessed positions that needed improving and actually acted on it and gotten results, yeh?
Good way to look at things lad, stick to the coach sooking arguement and base every answer regarding every single focal point when it comes to assessing the club as a whole, base every answer back on the coach.
I bet all 1 of your friends love hanging out with you, such an insightful person!

Many of us on here thought we'd tank at the back end of the year - the comment 'shades of 2015' was thrown around a-plenty, as well as many people hoping we wait until end of year to consider any extension for fear of exactly this.

As for expectations - sure, we were predicted for bottom 4 at season start, but we were also predicted for Top 4 in Round 10 and failed that, dramatically...

I keep hearing about the bottom 4 prediction and it was one news outlet and a couple of non descript journos that spun that BS on behalf of the club in order to manage expectations.
As you rightly point out, that "prediction" was soon upgraded to top 4 by round 10 which then went up in smoke.
So the focus should not be on the finishing position of 9th but rather the last 17 rounds and embarrassing capitulation that we all had to endure.
The club got a black eye for prematurely extending Price and they dutifully backed up and made the same blunder all over again with McGregor.
How hard would it have been to wait until the end of the season??
It is honestly an insult to the intelligence of the loyal fans that follow this club.
Since the slide it has been an arse covering exercise which will come to a nauseating conclusion with the end of season review.
Stay tuned...

Sorry, you're right. Except for the inept coaching appointment our club is in a very healthy state. Just look at our finances and results for the last 6 years.

Things are looking good.

You are missing the point or you have selective hearing.
No matter WHO we sign, no matter HOW many good young players are coming through.....THEY ALL NEED a good COACH, a mentor, good game day strategies and proper bench rotation. Mary has proven he is none of these. The buck stops with the coach. No matter who we sign, until Mary goes.....YES....we are screwed!

True that Benny. I thought we were going to win the comp after 10 weeks! Still can't believe we missed the 8. It was a gut wrenching season

Pretty sure most of us predicted bottom 4 before the season started. Check out the threads just after the charity shield game. It was wooden spoons galore.
Before round 1 next year it'll be top 4 top 8 I expect as it should be.

Crush, I remember your good self being extremely optimistic about both Mary's abilities and the team... this year!

I was optimistic about our chances in April until management decided to go full genius again and re-sign Mary in a similar fashion to how they re-signed Price mid season. Still cannot get over how short-sighted that was and how much it will cost us in the future. Idiots.
