Is Mary painting or coaching this Saturday?

Weird how Hornby and Young did the press release and Mary pulled out of the nines because some paint trim on a recent job needed a touch up.

Okay my bad but as a frustrated fan in the dark it is hard to understand without the facts - why doesn't the club be transparent and tell fans the coach will be unavailable for personal reasons for a week or two - maybe they did but if so I missed it.

I agree the guy is under enormous pressure and I'm sorry he has a family illness and hope for her return to good health.

Are the stars aligning for Mary?

Dufty injured at least 6 weeks.
Masoe still not ready and no date imminent.
Frizz a latent back injury and maybe not a 100%.
Hutch gone for the season

I suspect we may here something like this.

Well we would have liked for Dufty to play and that would have allowed us to change things up so that's unfortunate for us and was a big disruption.
Well we were all hoping that Masoe would be ready to go game 1 and we had planned that way, so we missed out on doing the things we had trained for.
Well Frizz hasn't been at his best but we are a bit under strength and him being a rep player we had to go that way.
Well we all thought this would be Hutch's breakout year but as we know that went belly up and to be honest we never recovered from that.

I also am hoping for his mother to return to good health.
But the enormous pressure he is feeling is self inflicted.
He could've been a man, and stood down.Knowing he was totally out of his
depth...

While it's got a fair amount of play here, the Des to Dragons thing is now getting big play on "The Kennel" forum.

A rabid Dogs supporter just stormed over to my desk at work and showed me some posts (i would never taint my phone or tablet by visiting a Dogs page). Don't know anything about that forum but just thought i'd pass it on.

The posts suggest things may be crystal clear around Rd 6. A post also suggests it is Dean Pay that willing take over the Dogs (not that we care).

MacGregor needs to go for the sake of team recruitment for 2018. Dugan and Widdop are loooking for contract renewals, A lot is being said about this (another post on our forum covers it pretty well) but the bottom line is the coach should be making he call based upon the balance he wants in our team and how he plans to play the game. Let's get McGregor out of here, bring in or at least consult our 2018 coach on who they want to play in the spine moving forward, and tell these players and others to either move on or sign up.

http://m.nrl.com/new-attacking-philosophy-for-rigid-dragons/tabid/10874/newsid/103402/default.aspx

McGregor bluntly accepts the "rigid" style adopted by the club last year didn't work and didn't suit all his players, and said the club would move away from that style in 2017.

There is a big difference between "rigid" and paralyzed.

"I'll be totally honest with you, we were very rigid in the way we played and we're going to go away from that and simplicity is the big thing in the way we're playing."

So does that now mean we are going for "loose and simple".. at least that aligns with the peanuts qualities.

"The vision that we've all come up with, the shared vision with the players, the philosophy is about playing with the freedom of playing what's in front and last year our style didn't suit some of our players and certainly our approach this year is totally different to that," McGregor said.

The vision .. the shared vision... the philosophy... please.

Vision - "The ability to plan or think about the future with imagination or wisdom"

So the whole clubs great shared vision is ... don't do what we did last year.

"Our attacking structure which has obviously been much maligned is definitely something for us to buy into and simplify in our minds so that we can be held accountable if we go outside that,"

So to be clear, the play book has now been simplified from last year... so that everyone can buy in and be held accountable.

Given that every team in the competition had little trouble reading our plays last year.. and our plays were far from complex... I can't wait for the simplified version.

So now he has a vision, accountability and a plan.. what about reality and leadership.. maybe next time I guess.

Agree with you Tots.
If I had to lisen to Mary speak that crap.
I would have gone to sleep.
He couldn't motivate a ant let alone a footballer.

The message came before the St George Illawarra squad left for the Auckland Nines, starting on Saturday with games against Parramatta and Manly.

He's sharing the vision. Mary should change the vision as it didn't work out that well in the 9's.

Another interesting point is that Hornby is Assistant Coach to Meninga for the Indigenous Team. So he would not have been around up until game day Saturday for this week.

Just noticed this thread has dropped down the list.

How excited would we all be with a new coach ?? !!

Indeed it would be exciting dependant on who it was of course. I would've been much more excited for the coming season if the management group had done what was needed to be done in October though.
