Brown saying he won’t move to NZ is super weird. He did know he signed up to coach a NZ team right? If it weren’t for Covid he would have already been living in NZ for years.

Yeah, I have a bit of sympathy here for Brown and the like on this one. A couple of years make a big difference. For example, signing a 3-year deal and relocating to another country for the whole term (with a possibility of extension) is very different to relocating your family (who are now 2 years older) for the final year of a contract with no promise of extension.

Agreed. I have no problem with it at all - he could conceivably relocate his family, only to be fired after round 5 when we're 0-5 (it happens a lot to NRL coaches).

At least we can move on and make the next poor decision AHEM I mean make the next appointment.

For me this is a very important decision for Robinson.
He owns the club so he has a vested interest in it's success, Not that he has shown any smarts so far.
Retaining George, meddling in the football department decisions, losing the best performed player etc. (For heavens sake if he really was macho he would have fronted Lodge and given him a smack in the mouth, not done it via George.
But beyond that there is going to be a shortage of experienced coaches at years end and we are going to be way down the list of desirable destinations. Plus Stacey is likely retain the job if for no other reason than nobody better will come. This will set the club back years.
Just when I thought we might progress, with help from POS and Gus, he sets us on our heels and lets the league world know the club is a real mess.
Shame really, Autex has been a real friend to league in this country. I know as far back as the 1980's they were sponsoring the Kiwis for a six-figure sum annually. Beautiful bubble then one small prick and it's gone.

Stacey interim.
Likely Stacey will be extended.
Good luck cause he has shown bugger all as an assistant.!
Lmfao… what does an assistant in rugby league actually show??

Kearney was the best assistant in the history of the world and he was an ordinary coach.

im happy to see Stacey given a crack… although it would be better if it wasn’t at a basket case like the Warriors.

the issue here is actually above the coach… they need to bring in a general manager who handles the football side outside of the coaching… they handle recruitment, development and they decide on the coach and the staff.

Cameron George is a business person… not a person who can run a sports organisation. Let a businessman run the business side and a GM of football run the football side… and bring in someone who has vision on how to run a successful sports organisation.

and I wouldn’t be looking in the NRL either…I’d be looking at potential GM candidates from Rugby Union, AFL, Soccer even basketball and American Football.

TBH… I’d be taking a hard look at whoever was the architect of the Crusaiders… they have consistently been a good professional football outfit for 20years. They have a strong culture and Maori and polynesian players have always excelled down there.

I’m not sure who that is though…

I actually agree with Rich. Stacey has been here a long time, and our halves have never developed. Our attack (for which I think he was responsible for- at times) has been poor for long periods of time. He was goal kicking coach at some stage too, and now isn't.

If he was any good, he'd have received an opportunity before then. But I suspect he's not a strong enough voice and doesn't have the chops to be a head coach.

below are words from Kevin Campion last year when the Warriors signed Lodge

His assessment is 100% on the money, and importantly there, I focus on the word “us”, which indicates he stills feels a connection to the club

I’m pretty sure I recall reading there was some bad blood around his exit from last time he was involved, but he is the man I would be approaching as asking how much he wants for an assistant role. His work ethic and approach is exactly what the organisation needs in its football department

Just saying, the best coach we've ever had was a former Warriors player.

Just saying... Nathan Fien has had a decent career in the Illawarra league coaching the Collegians club, and was rumoured to be a target of Wayne Bennett as his assistant for the Dolphins ;-)

I'm thinking the Walker Brothers would be worth a look. They were interested last time. They can't do any worse!

You won’t know until you give him a crack…

let’s be honest here… they ain’t making the finals this season… the rest of the year is a write off… why not give the assistant who’s been waiting in the wings for what seems like a f**ken decade a chance to show his stuff…

if they get worse… no harm, no foul as they were always heading that way… if he turns them around then it gives them another option going forward.

Even if he turns the team around it doesn’t mean they have to give him the team full time… but either way at least you will find out if he can actually coach or not.
