The club is in such a dire position now. Even if they don’t improve under Stacey it’s not exactly his fault. What a terrible way to start your head coaching career.

Yeah, I have a bit of sympathy here for Brown and the like on this one. A couple of years make a big difference. For example, signing a 3-year deal and relocating to another country for the whole term (with a possibility of extension) is very different to relocating your family (who are now 2 years older) for the final year of a contract with no promise of extension.
Yep, and I think irrespective the last two years have changed many of our perspectives...

Not sure how that's different to any coach coming in when someone's fired or on an interim basis?

They will improve, because on the last month they literally cannot get worse...

Jones is not the answer, sadly he might be the only option

Walker bros and toovey are long out of the coaching ranks.

For experience, it needs to be flanagan. For a rookie, needs to be Ciraldo.

I want either, but dont think we will get either.

Lmfao… what does an assistant in rugby league actually show??

Kearney was the best assistant in the history of the world and he was an ordinary coach.

im happy to see Stacey given a crack… although it would be better if it wasn’t at a basket case like the Warriors.

the issue here is actually above the coach… they need to bring in a general manager who handles the football side outside of the coaching… they handle recruitment, development and they decide on the coach and the staff.

Cameron George is a business person… not a person who can run a sports organisation. Let a businessman run the business side and a GM of football run the football side… and bring in someone who has vision on how to run a successful sports organisation.

and I wouldn’t be looking in the NRL either…I’d be looking at potential GM candidates from Rugby Union, AFL, Soccer even basketball and American Football.

TBH… I’d be taking a hard look at whoever was the architect of the Crusaiders… they have consistently been a good professional football outfit for 20years. They have a strong culture and Maori and polynesian players have always excelled down there.

I’m not sure who that is though…
Actually agree with you 100%.
Which is why it was so disappointing to see Gus discarded.
George isn't the man for the job.
You do know his background isn't in business. He was the secretary/manager of the Auckland Racing Club.
A big problem for someone outside the NRL is managing the salary cap. Robinson seems intent on bending it out of shape

He's lost the dressing room.

TBH I think he's surviving because he says the right things when he fronts the media. But whatever he's doing it doesn't work.

Pack your bags Browny.
This is how he will probably get another job too. He is a master salesman. Doesnt back it up though.

Okay, now surely THIS is rock bottom for the club right?
When the coach says he doesn't want to move to NZ and ups and leaves, leaving the club 14th, after supposedly paying off a player NOT to play.

I'm getting tired of the 'not wanting to move to NZ' excuse.

Yes, I get that it's probably harder to move for the sake of 6 months/1 year than to being able to settle for 3. BUT, it is just that. 6 months or a year....you're a (highly) paid "professional", knowing full well that the club is based in NZ. You knew the risks before you signed up. GTFO.

I'm not sure this is rock bottom. A wooden spoon might be.

Next coach?

Of the available coaches out there, Shane Flanagan is the person. Only negative I see is potential of bringing son Kyle with him. I would think though, Shane would get more out of Kyle than any other coach.

Something a bit more left field - wait until September, watch Parramatta crash & burn, get Brad Arthur. Hard, no bullshit type of coach required. Can he take us to the top? Probably not. Can he rebuild from the bottom up. Yes.

Anybody else find this timing interesting...
Yep my thought exactly Brownie the club builder 😂 to the Tigpies?

not sure Brown or Madge’s sticks are very high atm, but the latter has won, and for the most part the Tigpies at least try…

there’s still Green around too, I’m not sure a new coach is enough for either of those dumpster fire teams
