I'm eating my words and I don't like it

There's still some better opportunities being missed when he takes the line on but still, it's doing wonders for us.

Having moved Roberts out and Gids in at half has allowed our team to play to our strengths which is to move the ball and often.

I think the main difference isn't so much Gids, I think the main difference is Boyd has finally pulled his finger out

Boyd pulling his finger out has had a massive impact. Korbin coming along is helping, too. We're getting more and more out of our forward pack as the season wears on in general - less mistakes and more quality. Line speed has been fantastic, too... especially deep in the opposition half.

Gids at halfback - he's able to link with Mullo, is keeping the kicking to a minimum and generally not f**king up too badly. We don't need much more than that, and I agree that he is straightening the attack well. Credit where it is due - it's probably his last chance to make a position his in our team, and he's taken it with both hands thus far.

I was watching some footage from when Gidley played fb a few years ago. Physically he is very different, as he's heaps bigger now. I don;t know if that will impact his speed at all if we use him at fullback in the future. As for a halfback, he's doing an OK job atm. I'd like to see how he goes over the next couple of games before I push for him to remain there.

He's had one good game and one average game there so far, I think we were there or there abouts the few weeks previously, I think Boyd's form has made that bit of difference also not having Gids at hooker helps

Gidley should play exactly like Foran. Direct at the line running hard and either pass at the line or make the right line run to commit the defender to create space for his outside man. He is a big halfback. Forget the skill side and just take the line on. Make them make the right choice in defence. He has to stop playing as a playmaker. It is not his go.

Well put. The times that he's looked at his best, is when he plays exactly like you just said. When he's trying to be creative is where he comes unstuck. Either go the long pass (which he can do quite well), the shorter pass, or simply take on the defense. Also as you said, his size means that he is capable of making decent meters and getting the team a quick play the ball.

I think Gids has been playing the role you guys are talking about, his been playing very direct and that has created the space for his outside men. In my opinion the main issue with out attack this season has been that Roberts has been playing too sideways and running his outside men out of room. Mullo tends to play very straight and direct and if Gids can continue to do the same then I think Boyds form will continue as he thrives on that extra room as we saw on Sunday it gives him the option to run the football on the edges without running his winger and centre out of room.

f**k Gidley. I f**king hate him so much. At least other teams have their players age gracefully or f**k off to England. He's like that speck of shit that won't come off a toilet.

Yep. He's had a couple of passable games this year, the rest has been putrid horror.

At least he got the kick that mattered tonight, but f**k we could have won that game a lot easier.

Mullen plays and I think we would have won quite comfortably. Even Scott. Still, I have to give him credit. He didn't become selfish in the final minute and try to create something for himself. And the clutch kick was just class.

That guy simply has to go. Im amazed Bennett did not make the big decision to tell him to look elsewhere. Someone will need to make that call because Kurt will hang on for as long as he can.
