Given Gidley's performance over the last 3 years, if he is selected, it will be a huge joke. It was the blues halves that cost us the series last year, even with Farah playing so well. No Farah in game one is a massive loss!

ATM Gids is necessary for Clydesdale's development. You can't expect the young bloke to be playing long minutes at this stage.

I thought it was a big enough joke when Gidley got picked in the mid-year test at Canberra last year, let alone the NSW side for Origin I (before he pulled out with injury at the last minute). I still can't believe he was selected for either. Unless he has a Bradman-like streak between now and Origin I, there's no way he should be anywhere near Origin based on his form since Bennett came to Newcastle. The Brian Smith years (2007-09) was when Gidley was at his peak.

If you want to see the stark contrast in how much better Gidley was back then compared to now, I recommend you to watch our home match vs Warriors in 2007. Although he was a hardworker and nowhere near as naturally gifted as his older brother, Gidley had that zip and spark in his runs a few years ago. Those injuries he's had over the last 2-3 years have definitely made him a big shadow of his former self and now he has nothing left in his attacking arsenal rather than doing the usual dummy-half run.

I agree in regards to Clydesdale though I'd love to see Clydesdale get more minutes, also great we hopefully never have to see Waddell again

I don't mind him stuffing up NSW's chances of winning Origin if it meant we won the games he didn't play for us.:lol:

EDIT: There's only one game where Origin selection affects us, vs Roosters at Allianz. We have byes on the other two Origin rounds.
