Wow 11 players unavailable for selection. But but but every club has injuries.

It doesn't say we have 11 Top 25 (or 2nd tier players already used) unavailable. From the 'injuries' page:

Darcy Lussick - Round 13 (suspension)
Adam Quinlan - Round 14-16 (knee) - definitely 2nd tier and unused
Vai Toutai - Round 14 (knee)
Beau Champion ? Season (knee)
Kenny Edwards ? Season (knee)
Kaysa Pritchard ? Indefinite (pectoral)

PLUS:
Peni
IDG
Gower
Ualesi - presumably 2nd tier and unused this season
Fa'oso - ???

That makes 11.

I thought we were ok cap wise this year and next. Or so Sharp and Seward told us anyway.

Suity

The big cap we are. It's the reggie cap that is a pain for the battlers.

Teams that win the comp generally field the same team every week and suffer fewer injuries than those who finish down the ladder.

I bet Manly's 2nd tier cap is in trouble already too.

So basically we're being forced into choosing a team each week that the coach doesn't really have faith in some of them, but there isn't anything he can do about it, because if he does, he will start 2016 on -4 points.

Oh yeah....things are going great guns
Things are just peachy, just imagine if we won the last two games we would almost be in the imaginary top 8.

Bit hard to be critical on the coach when he can't even choose the team he wants. This second tier cap is rubbish it really is. Don't the NRL want the best teams on the park each week???

The 2nd tier cap is a joke every year some club suffers looks like its our turn. Kelly is off contract hard to impress when you can't play. Not sure how other sports handle this but I'm sure the NRL are the worse and its only early in the season.

The whole 2nd tier cap idea is the clubs' own doing. The NRL didn't just say....'here is the new cap set up'. Pretty much like the Round 13 thing.

The clubs collectively are now reaping what they sowed. The NRL are not responsible for any particular club's mismanagement of their cap. If they give in to every request for dispensation, there is little incentive to for clubs to manage their cap, refrain from stock-piling back up players etc.

Surely injuries and suspensions must come into play, they should abolish the 2nd tier cap and just have a top 35 with one cap.

Loved the old days when merkins would sit on the bench for firsts as a reward for playing well in reggies. They would sit there in their dirty socks and shorts with clean jersey. You felt excited for them as they were entering a new phase of their career.

Now progressing a kid is stifled by petty cap politics. it's not rorting the cap to play a kid coming through FFS.

I have to say it's pretty hard to understand the policy reasons behind it.

It's almost a penalty for having depth.

It also seems to penalise teams not playing well if it can't be used to replace players out of form. That's hardly an equalising measure.

That doesn't apply to us.
