Millward said our recruitment is not complete, he is after one very good outside back but not in a hurry. This would indicate that there is more than 200k in the cap. Since that time we have De Belin stood down with a credit to our cap of about 600k from the NRL. Then if McInnes leaves there is possibly another 600k if Millward is smart with negotiations with the Eels.
On the other side of the ledger would be an upgrade to Robson's contract, maybe 100k for Kasiano for 2019 and the recruitment of a good outside back prior to June 30.
Possm, this is not guaranteed and there are a few hurdles to jump before we can begin to think about being compensated by the NRL, some being;
1. Whether the club accepts the ruling (and player) and has put in place reformation programs that assist all its players, and
2. Whether the club can afford the salary cap relief, based on current excess and future position over the cap, and
3. Whether we actually apply for salary cap relief.
The fact is that we have excess funds, which the amount is debatable, which we have held over for our 30th player. If it is around the 200k mark, then that leads us to think it would be a DS player, or a player signed to an ISP contract being promoted based on their 1st half of season performances.
Again, IF it is McInnes wanting out then yes some of that would go to securing a substantial increase to Robson's contract. The balance has to be split between 2 incoming or promoted players.
