Played one good halfg of football and he is a star ?
Ok you gimo merkins a f**kwits.

You're only as good as your last half game?

Considering many were writing him off before he even arrived, half a game seems like a long enough qualifying period.

Will continue to improve.

In the bottom half of fullbacks, better than Perrett, not up there with the rising stars Milford or Tedesco and nothing close to the established stars Hayne, Stewart, Inglis, Barba and Slater.

Wrong. He is in the top echelon of fullbacks and has been for a number of years.

Tomkins is number 8 full back in the world:

1. Inglis
2. Slater
3. Barba
4. Stewart
5. Milford
6. Hayne
7. Tedesco
8. Tomkins
9. Escare
10.Bowen

He is just adjusting to the NRL and will not hit peak form until June. But his try tonight was a glimpse of his great talent.

I think he has potential to have an influence like Darren Lockyer, but he needs to bring his game together.

I still maintain that the warriors are not the right team for him. A team like Brisbane would work for him.

Anyone who can't see that he's still adjusting and is not playing at anywhere near is best it bias. He's still showing great skill at times, just needs the right opportunities or create them.

You put Barba above Stewart, Milford above Hayne, Tedesco above Tomkins and Escare at 9 = you have no clue.

Considering he has troubled Australia more than any other test player in the last few years I'd say yes, he's a star. It's more like - three games of football where he hasn't completely dominated and won the game on his own makes him shit?

He's already created loads of opportunities down the Warriors' right hand side. If the can keep the quick ball to Hurrell happening it could become one of the most dangerous attacking edges in the comp.

This list is based on current form. Brett Stewart spends more time on crutches than on the football field. Milford is now a better full back than Hayne, Hayne is a better centre or winger than full back. Tedesco is currently outperforming Tomkins. All of these judgments may change come September, when the games are won or lost by full back moves or lack thereof (which is so often the case with Hayne).

Considering stability and consistency is paramount in any team of mine as fullback I'd take

1. Slater
2. Inglis
3. Tomkins

There was another bloke who could last enough games in the right spine to make the team but I'm f**ked if I can remember his name

Cant judge tomkins until later in the season. Always going to take some time to adjust to a new team and competition, especially at his size. Same thing happened with Leuluai last year, looked a bit off the pace, but bounced back to be the Warriors best and most consistent player at the end of the season.

He seems like a good professional too, which counts for a lot in my eyes and especially for the Warriors who need these model professionals instead of the 'bro' attitude that always goes on.

Consistently handing the other teams tries is important to you?

Don't disagree, but TL was not a signing of the same magnitude, nowhere near the same expectations

Tomkins remains underwhelming for me, better signs yesterday, but he and Johnson came into their own once the Tigers were stuffed.

He'll improve, and be a good fullback - not a Slater, Inglis, Hayne, or Stewart imo, and whether he's a good signing or not depends on how much of the salary cap he's taken

Yeah, I agree with this. He's been talked about like the second coming of Christ by some people, with strong games even against the Kangeroo's to suggest he is a super star. Well folks, super stars hit the ground running and make and immediate impact. They compete at the highest level without "needing time" to adjust. At a minimum, they have the basics right - like tackling, catching bombs and passing a rugby ball. I've seen one too many chokes from the million dollar man over the last four games, just on these three basic things.

He's definitely not worth the sort of coin that he's being paid to be the marquee/franchise player for the Warriors. If you look at previous marquee players from Steve Price right down to Greg Alexander, you knew what you were paying for. Tomkins, I'm still not sure about. He's not a super star yet, but he's got the "potential" to be the next Billy Slater. I'd like to see him put a bit more muscle, and I'd like to see him get more "protection" on the high ball from the likes of Manu. Worried he's going to snap in half in one of those bombs or kick returns.
