:lol::lol::lol:

Tomkins is number 8 full back in the world:

1. Inglis
2. Slater
3. Barba
4. Stewart
5. Milford
6. Hayne
7. Tedesco
8. Tomkins
9. Escare
10.Bowen

He is just adjusting to the NRL and will not hit peak form until June. But his try tonight was a glimpse of his great talent.

Inglis up there with Shane Watson as one of the most overrated sportsman i have ever seen

What a shit thread this is.
He's contributing well in every match so far, but not at superstar levels.
If you want to write him off after 4 weeks (where he has looked dangerous in every touch) go for it.
But why not just be happy that the best English back is in the NRL, sit back, and enjoy the progression.
It wont do you any harm, i swear.

He has some decent touches in him and runs some nice lines. But he still looks more like a half playing fullback IMO. Terrible last line of defence, poor under the highball, doesn't seem to read the game well at the back.

I think in the halves you hide some of his weaknesses and make the most of his strengths.

Why are people so keen to death ride him? Is it fear that'll he tear their teams a new arsehole? Is it jralousy that he Warriors nabbed him?

I think it's a stigma that players produced by the super league aren't as technically sound as those in the NRL. That's true for the most part, but the best poms are still good. And more than good enough.

I'm not going to death ride him but compared to other high profile Englishmen that have come out in recent years he has had less of an impact straight away. I expected him to start out firing before fading a bit towards the end of the year. Hopefully he does the exact opposite

Yes, jealousy and fear, and not at all the satisfaction of having a measured opinion of his worth being proved correct in the face of "LAWL Tomkins Superstar better than Hayne gonna dominate" dribble.

lolz. Shouldn't you be waiting until the end of the season to see if your "measured opinion of his worth" is on the money?

You're approaching BM levels of obsession. Congrats.

Lol, your typical butthurt over Hayne coming to the fore again. Tomkins will be a top 4 fullback by season's end, the blokes a weapon.

The Warriors have been trying for years to get top flight Australians to the club. Most are not interested. We have always had room for them, but we can't attract them over. So the $750k is not an issue for the club at this point. Steve Price FWIW was probably on a similar proportion of the salary cap but no one said boo about that.

Second, if you kept your ear to the ground, you'd know To,kins has an England international union brother and has for some time thought about Union. This is no new thing. It's got nothing to do to with coming to the Warriors or the NRL. It's just a long known fact. He has things he wants to achieve in league first such as winning an NRL title and proving himself. He's got a long way to go on both counts. While, mostly the media, talk about the union thing his eye is very much on proving himself down here. He came here for a challenge and he's getting it. He's a champion and he will continue to get better. Given he was a key part of 4 Warriors tries on Saturday, I'm quite comfortable with what we've got. I admire Kevin Locke, but his passing skills don't free Konrad Hurrell up as easily as Tomkins did. More so, it's finally allowing Johnson to focus on organising, knowing he has someone with similar speed and footwork as SJ to make or create a break which the Warriors have desperately needed.

The return of Tommy Leuluai to the ranks of the NZ Warriors is going to be the making of Sam Tomkins. Those two were a sharp attacking force at Wigan, and with Konrad Hurrell they will light up the NZ Warriors backline in 2014.

Watching the off the cuff partnership that is developing between him and Johnson is a joy to watch in a world of boring structured NRL play. Going to be brilliant pairing in time to come.

I was ready to hate him due to the way he carried on over in England but he's put that shit in the back room amd working hard. Kudos imo.

That try Sam Tomkins scored yesterday was straight out of the JT playbook. He is going to turn a lot of games, along with Tommy, Shaun and Konrad.

I don't think it's fair to call him a success or failure until at least midway through the season...

He's shown glimpses of both brilliance and geniusation...

I don't see why there's such venom for people to come out of the woodwork and call him a waste of money etc....
