Sam Tomkins: coming to an NRL club near you

I aint blaming Tomkins for yesterdays abysmal performance.

And I aint blaming the forwards because most of them turned up yesterday.

Therefore it has to be the coach and his lack of, or ineffective game strategy.

He obviously isn't solely to blame for losing against the Sharks. But he is playing nowhere near his reputation or his salary. That's because his reputation is ridiculous and severely overrates him, and the Warriors paid silly money based on reputation and should have seen Tomkins was never going to be a marquee level player in the NRL

No it wasn't. They never had the chance to attack because they spent the entire game either defending their line or dropping the ball early in the tackle count.

There was nothing any spine player could have done with that rabble yesterday.

Agree with this, although Johnson didn't help himself by not even finding the sideline with a penalty.

Give the kid a chance to settle into his team and the NRL..

kid? He's 25. He's an England international. He should be ready. The problem is he isn't and he never was good enough. The only people who think he can be a superstar in the NRL are people who can't see how big the gap is between SL and NRL.

Scored a good try today, That's about it.

They need to move him to 5/8, Bring Locke back in, Leuluai to the bench.

Sam Tomkins was very good tonight. Scored a brilliant try, was safe under the high ball, and generally solid in defence (no crime to have been steam rollered by big Mike Cooper).

Sam Tomkins suffers from playing in a team that has Dane Nielsen in the centres, who is either dropping the ball (twice this week) or throwing the ball into touch (twice last week).

Needs to be 5/8, doesn't have the power to break tackles so he has to be through the line before defenders have time to set themselves

Tomkins has been the best player in a losing team for two weeks now.

Rest of the boys have to step up.

LOL - looking at the responses to your post, epic backfire. Your trolling attempt is dubious to say the least.

Trolling ??? That was praising him.

He didn't do much other than the try, don't know what game you merkins were watching. It's not hard to be the best Warriors player on the field, whole team is a f**king basket case.

Locke is still better. Disgusting to see him playing NSW cup.

Anybody who thinks Locke is a better player than Tomkins is kidding themself, but I agree he should be playing first grade somewhere!

If you expect him to be somewhere around an average NRL player, say the 8th best halfback in the comp, then you'll be pleased with his performance.

If you expect him to be a marquee that actually earns his wage and plays to his reputation, then you will see he is a massive failure. He should be leading the Warriors to wins but they look likely to win as little or even less games than they did in 2013.

That's the point, he never was meant to be a leader any more than Barba is, he's meant to finish off enterprising play . . . which has to first be created. We won't know if he can create anything unless he is actually in the halves
