He has been totally exposed the last few weeks. He's got nothing against the better coached better quality teams.

Tomkins was actually one of our best today. The rest of the team didn't put it.

Tomkins may have tried hard. But he was a non existent last line of defence and poor under kicks. Most of the time his efforts were the equivalent of having no one there at all. He looks lively running the ball though and always looks to be trying to create something.

There is 5 or 6 fullbacks atleast id take above tomkins right now.

I'd be happy with a top 10 fullback to be honest especially since I can't actually remember the last time the Warriors had one of those. Hopefully next year he can progress to being among the top 5 but at the moment I consider Hayne, Slater, Inglis, Stewart as the elite. Milford, Moylan & Morgan have showed they're gonna be stars in the NRL. We all know what Dugan is capable of when playing his rightful position, unsure of Tedesco, needs more time on the field to prove himself but he's another with promise and with Minichiello retiring at the end of the year we'll get to see how RTS goes as a full-time fullback. And wherever Boyd ends up will be interesting as well because when he's in form he's pretty good aswell. So I think it's safe to say he was in the top 10 considering Boyd was absent, Barba was out of form, Dugan was playing centre, Tedesco was mostly injured. But he has a way to go before he is considered among the best.

McKinnon for a season or two was excellent

He was.

Funnily enough, the attribute that Tomkins most requires from Wade of 07/08 is his on-line defence.

I'm perfectly happy with the Sam Tomkins on attack, even if people think he should be ducking and weaving and breaking lines at will. He has a great sleight of hand, good link player and adds a dimension to our attack - when the platform is set for him.

But as a last line of defence, he's one of the worst 1s in the comp. I can recall about half a dozen tries that better defensive fullbacks would have prevented. I'm not sure he can rectify it at his size.

agree with all that - kick returns aren't great either atm

Tomkins is obviously not in the class of the top 4: Slater, Inglis, Hayne and Stewart.

I would say that Tomkins is probably one of the top 10 full backs in the NRL, esp. since Dugan is now a centre, Milford is not certain to be a full back, and Barba is also not certain to be a full back, plus Barba is out of form..

So his season is over and the the "just wait" excuses are done with. A judgement probably won't be agreed upon but I think we can safely rule out the nonsense you can find at the start of this thread, shit like "comparable to Hayne, easily top 5 fullbacks in the world, 3rd best fullback in the game, freakishly talented would light up the NRL, match it with the best fullbacks" etc..
