Sam Tomkins: coming to an NRL club near you

I'd be happy with a top 10 fullback to be honest especially since I can't actually remember the last time the Warriors had one of those.

Fullback hasn't been a problem for us for a long time.
Cleary, McKinnon, Hohaia and Locke had us well covered in general

Tomkins hasn't surpassed any of them yet but he's probably fought his way to become good enough to persist with. Definitely nowhere near the best ones in the comp.

Sam Tomkins finished on the same amount of points as Hayne on the NRL ladder with 28,Tomkins is playing with Phar Laps and Hayne is playing with Wazns.

Eels get the wooden spoon if Tomkins played for them

I didn't really like any of them tbh, except for Hohaia, hated Locke thought he was the most overrated player in the team, he had a few good games in 2011 and that was really it from him as a fullback, his positioning and defence was good at times. Cleary was safe atleast but probably the slowest fullback i've ever seen, rated him as a kicker though and McKinnon was the exact opposite great runner just that he was another rocks and diamonds player who spent alot of time injured too.

Tomkins I guess I give him a 6/10 for the year, considering he did score 13 tries and set up quite a few. But he needs to work on his defence, his mistake rate, catching high balls and I don't necessarily think he needs to put on heaps of weight but he does need to get stronger for the NRL.

Brent Webb was fairly handy for the warriors, probably the best fullback they have had if you ask me as far as consistently performing.

Ah right knew I was missing someone.
But in short from Clearly onwards we've been pretty well stocked at the back.

Its the #6 that's usually been a big probem

#6 has been a problem until now. But now you have Tommy Leuluai, who is a mate of Sam Tomkins from Wigan. So no problems.

Next year when Ryan Hoffman adds to the punch of the back row, Sam Tomkins will be going gang busters.

Tomkins may have tried hard. But he was a non existent last line of defence and poor under kicks. Most of the time his efforts were the equivalent of having no one there at all. He looks lively running the ball though and always looks to be trying to create something.

Slater and Heather were both useless defenders when they started but were ok after a few years. Tomkins just needs a another couple of years in the NRL. He will probably run back to Super League or make a motza playing union in europe before then.

You holdup Leuluai as an asset? hahahaha. Good one. He is one of their biggest problems.

In terms of value for money, Tomkins has to be one of the worst fullbacks in the NRL. Moylan has outperformed him all season and is on probably a third of the wage.

just looking at sam's warriors stats..

2nd on the tryscoring list after manu

1st in linebreak assists

1st in try assists

3rd in hit ups after lillyman & manu

not a bad first season....he probably tops the errors list too.....but he'll touch the ball more than most too

I'm going to put it out there, you know less about the game than Bunniesman.

Got to give Panthers fans credit for persistence, when they get material they like they stick with it.

There was a comparison stat put up before the Penrith v Warriors game comparing Moylan and Tomkins in 2014. Tomkins had scored more tries 13/7, ran more metres (+200), had more line break assists (11/10) etc.

This is all when Tomkins has been the worst full back in the NRL and Moylan was having the season of his life :? Imagine if he actually hits some form next year? He has done okay, he is playing in a very inconsistent side.

---------------Played - Tries - G -- FG -- Metres LB -- OL -- Tk -- Mt -- E - Try Assists - LB Assists

Tomkins---- 24 -------13 --- 0 ----0 --- 2827 --11---17 --135 -- 36 -- 31 ------ 12 --------13

Moylan ----- 24 ------- 8 ---- 7 --- 3 --- 2807 --12 ---24 --137 -- 30 -- 29 ------ 14 --------16

Add in the three games Moylan won in the last minute of play, and all for a significantly lower wage than Tomkins. Now i am not saying Tomkins is a bad player, just that he is not good value.

TBF we will only be able to assess his values when he walks away. If his influence gets the Warriors challenging in 2015 and 2016 then I'm sure no-one will be complaining.
