Sanity prevails..... Sa & Ennis cleared to play

Ainscough was rightfully penalised for foul play. Sa wasnt. I would have been surprised if he was suspended but I thought a grade 1 careless was in order. Given they made sure O'Meley got the maximum without suspension though, I'm far from surprised.

Sa knocked out a player off the ball, thats a fact. Its also illegal going by the rules but whats done is done.

I stand by my thoughts on Mini, you guys created the prowler and do it so much O'Meley almost caned one of your own. I really hope Mini gets a prowler in the lower back.

It wasn't illegal by the rules didn't you read the judiciary transcript?? Gees aren't you an angry epod with you view on Mini. very sad life you must have:crazy:

Sa wasnt. I would have been surprised if he was suspended but I thought a grade 1 careless was in order. This is your opinion

No action was taken against Roosters centre Setaimata Sa after the NRL match review committee decided his off-the-ball tackle on Dragons back-rower Ben Creagh last Friday night was not intentional.
"It happened so quick and Ben Creagh raised his hands as if he was about to get the ball," match review commissioner Greg McCallum said. "If you are going to run as a decoy, you've got to be prepared to be tackled."

This is fact

 What douche said this ?

If this is fact then every decoy player is free game.

You can't actually believe that to be correct, do you ?

I played for years and I was more than happy in the knowledge that the game I played looked out for its players. The job of a support runner is to position himself in a hole, and he has to watch nothing but the ball. By putting himself in a hole, he puts the defender out of position. If I've done my job as a runner, I'd hate to think that that defending player's only option, which is now to smash me on suspiscion, is allowed because its down right f*cking dangerous. Sa was out of position and had to close the hole in a hurry, unfortunatley his technique was terrible and in wet conditions. The result was a player got knocked out and played no further part.

Its ok to protect the kickers and it should be the same for support runners.

As for the penalty, the rule is that you cant tackle on suspicion.

Its a rule, look it up.

Bring on the blockers, O, D and kicking teams, marching bands, helmets and hail mary's.

I'll bet that if Ryles (for example) takes a 'decoy' out this weekend, he'll be off the field and on holidays for the remainder of his NRL career.

I know the rules Ribs...and I disagree that your job as a runner is to watch the ball ONLY. I am still playing footy and we are always taught look at what the defender is doing first then position yourself, the ball will come to you when you are in the hole. Once you are in space then look for the footy. You are right, Sa reacted late and he tried to close the hole, but my main point is that once Hornby went himself, Sa was committed to the tackle and in those conditions it was near impossible for him to pull out as Hornby went himself at a very late stage.
Like I said, in those bad conditions, at that speed, neither player can disappear, hence the collision. The resulting injury was purely bad luck and was an accidental head clash.

I know that if the conditions were better and had Sa had an opportunity to pull out of the tackle and more time and he didnt pull out, then for sure penalise him.
Not all rules are not black and white within the game and there needs to be common sense applied in some situations.
The Referee and Video Referee had more than enough opportunity to review the incident on the field and obviously decided that there was nothing further to act on.

The concept of time eludes you doesn't it, f**ktard? Two weeks of whinging about an issue that occurred less than a week ago.

Where Ben Creagh was, he only had eyes for the ball. That makes him very vulnerable, thats what this is about. Protecting players in vulnerable positions.

Honestly, if the NRL ok tackling on suspiscion, what do you think is going to happen? We'll need more than 4 blokes on the bench, thats for starters.

How did the NRL "ok" tackling on suspiscion??

They simply stated it is not a suspendable offence. Sa tackling a man without the ball should have been penalised at the time, much like Crocker was against the bunnies (although crocker actually brought down a man while behind the ball I believe).

The hit itself was not that great, however the fact they clashed heads saw Creagh knocked out and Sa with a half a dozen stitches in his head.

Had Sa led with the elbow, or simply hit creagh high he would have been suspended. As it stands, the only error was a penalty not being awarded, and even then that is debatable as Creagh was running through into the roosters defensive line at the time. Had their heads been in slightly different positions and it was Sa knocked out and Creagh with a couple stitches, I doubt too many would be calling for Creagh to be penalised for an obstruction.
