I did a search for "Sonny Bill Williams" on French websites. I came across this site which I translated:

The page was written on On 09 June at 19:50...So this was not a spurge of the moment thing by Sonny Bill. He has known for well over a month and has played the National Rugby League community for fools!

But Sonny Bill,and the way he's gone about it - He's let so many people down and disappointed so many people.

RC Toulonnais is the team SBW has gone to, based in Toulon. From the above link, looks like a nice place, but whether his rugby ambitions will come to fruition without a lengthy legal battle impending remains to be seen.

Toulon isn't, in my opinion, a particularly nice place compared to other cities in France. It was bombarded in WW2 so not much of any historical significance remains.

If it's written into NRL contracts that disputes can be directed to the International Court for Arbritation for sport (which I hope is the case), then I'm guessing that the Bulldogs will have an avenue for placing an injunction on any contracts he signs.

If the contracts don't have that provision, then I think clubs should start including it because without it, you can't direct matters to them.

I don't know what other legal action can be taken against SBW himself considering he's effectively fled the country. I don't know how they're supposed to enforce Australian contractual obligations on him unless he comes back into the country.

I hate to break the news to you but he isn't going to Toulon for the sights.. In any case, I am sure it compares favourably to Canterbury...
