Is that per capita?

Nu it's Per suasdion.
The close to midnight "view" and tipping point theory have been expressed by many climatology experts..

The loud people would be encouraged by those with vested interests , naive to think otherwise Oh the mining sector and Businesses in trouble would have vested interests? Go figure!

The 2 billion Climate Solutions fund ? Thatll go far! Whats that? about 70 dollars PER CAPITA ?Suppose they could restart Holden and start making Electric cars for that ? Pardon my skepticism. BTW Corolla Hybrids (charge under braking too) Priced same as Petrol. substantial savings on fuel.

Theres lots of jobs in renewable energy For instance all the Chinese employed making solar panels .Just we havent been worried about transitioning to them . To easy to pull the resources out of the ground ship em to China and buy them back so Chinese can then use the money to buy up Australia. Good O!

Dont have the luxury of doing Much ? Ha! We have to have a drastic rethink about our affluent lifestyle and how its paid for and price we pay for it . No more jumping in a jet aircraft at drop of a hat , No more driving big SUVs around the city where not needed And some of our luxury spare time needs to be commited to retraining and transitioning Jobs and lifestyle rather than Carbon emitting holidays

A 17 yr old with opposing view on climate Change ? I would regard and treat her same way as greta (who Ive never actually heard speak )(. Simply a reminder that theres a younger generation thatll feel effects of our choices . If I did say anything to or about her it would only be to point her in direction of the experts.

Judging by opponents on both sides they appear to have vested interests, MIchael Moore indicated that point. And Gore doesn't have a vested interest?
It may well have been expressed by many experts in the past and present, the ones in the past have had to change their thinking in terms of time, and who knows what the later ones will do if it doesn't eventuate.

2bn dollars under to day's issues that is strangling the country is at least a start, unless of course you want all the people on Job Keeper and Seeker to give up their Govt grants.

I understand renewable energy has numbers of employment opportunities, but ATM they would pale by comparison with the numbers involved in mining and their ancillary industries. Which gets to my point of gradual phasing out ,not slash and burn.

My point about stopping coal to China,is they will buy it elsewhere, and Global Warming as a result will not change one iota.
Believe me our affluent lifestyle will be changing and for numbers of people already has started to change. As a result of COVID-19 and the cost of Govt necessary Fed and state Govt initiatives.I suggest more Australians will be holidaying either at home /Pacific Islands and NZ or Bali.Travel costs will be kept to an affordable minimum.I certainly will not be doing any more overseas travel, with perhaps one trip to Fiji if at all.
If people work their rings out for 50 weeks of the year, they are entitled to a break. Decent numbers can afford it, others can't.It's not up to you and me to tell them where or if they should go outside this country.
The irony people like Zali Steggal a skier is not going to go overseas on occasions.

You might well treat a 17 year old with respect who has opposing views, but many on the left Greens in particular have no qualms in lambasting anyone publicly ,with opposing views. ScoMO has been the butt of it, and so have farmers with invasion of their properties.
I have family of that young vintage, thus I am not immune to their views and I am just as concerned as anyone in the Greens about their future in a clean environment.

If anything I would have said to her, with due respect young lady,I would not be taking up the CNN offer. This virus is something to be left to the experts, you're commitment should be the environment.

They only use scientific advice when it suits their argument...unless it’s the advice of a 17 year old girl with no qualifications what so ever.

Who are THEY? Which advice from a seventeen yr old girl are THEY or (anyone for that matter) using ? Peter is obsessed with poor Greta I think . Its not healthy Peter.

Finkel is an Engineer , Brilliant one , No doubt ,But.... Not a Climatologist, . Was Many years advocating Nuclear Power as Answer to all Energy Problems . Directly contradicting others who actually Work in Nuclear Power research. Hes now on the Hydrogen Boat. Takes a massive amount of energy to make Hydrogen just now . Its possibly long term answer to commercial transport But it s not happening tomorrow and we are way behind other countries even with our advantages.

Since some of you (or should I say " THEY") dont like per capita emissions rating ,do you prefer we were rated for total emissions for exported coal ,gas, and the energy to process raw material we export ? I think that brings us up to 6 or seven in the world, could be wrong by one or two but cant be bothered checking cause its close and you lot would only find some other irrelevant point of distraction. Man made Global warming is real and needs to be addressed in a real way by us as well as other countries.

Ironic that we should be using renewable energy but China is the one making all the solar panels.
Pumping out the usual emissions in doIng so.
Finally... a half good post . Not sure Ironic is right word though. Whose fuel are they using to do it ? Why aren't we doing it so we benefit from jobs and income and have some control over those emissions.?

I’m gonna assume no one wants to pay 10x more for the same panels.

it’s a bit like those batteries
Filthy way of mining the cobalt to make them , currently the process is worse for the environment than coal .
Then you have to dispose of them somehow .

We dont want More expensive solar panels
We dont want Cheaper solar panels
We dont want dirtier solar panels
We dont want foreign made solar panels...................
We want solar Panels "In THE NATIONAL INTEREST"

Hypothetical: Just sayin IF Science worked the way yall think it should to command your respect, and Scientists could give a !00 % accurate prediction on climate as to what would happen when and where, From tomorrow for next say 50 years.. And ---it was catastrophic to 25% of the population . But not you. Govt says to avoid it we need to record everyones non essential travels and holidays and limit their Kilometres ,no of trips and so on, So to be fair on all. We will need you all to download an APP that will record such data and will be able to be checked on. Who would download it ?

This guy?

https://www.chiefscientist.gov.au/2...entists-position-on-reducing-carbon-emissions

I don't know if I agree with everything, but I agree with these sentiments.

that only confirms what was said all along.
Australia’s emissions are virtually zero compared to the rest of the world ...a scientist Confirmed it.
Per capita our living conditions are probably about 70% better than the world biggest polluters.

Don’t worry though sounds like China isn’t going to buy Australian coal next.

So as an average Australian, you consume more than the average Chinese person.

But you shouldn't do anything and they should. Got it.

As an average Australian I have a much better lifestyle than people in China.
We all do.

You know New Zealand and Canada per capita have around the same emissions as us?

I'm not sure what your point is exactly? So you want people with less to give up more?

I'm of the opinion that everyone should be reducing emissions.

I think it's a bit rich for us to say that we don't have to do anything based on our relatively small emissions as a country, when per person we are Olympic standard.

who said we don’t have to do things?
The government is doing stuff.
I am personally doing what I can .
I’m going to continue to work from home where I can.
Therefore I won’t be driving as much.same Same goes for my staff in Sydney.
The bullshit we have to go through to recycle in my industry is unbelievable.
Do you know how much it costs to recycle cardboard?
Yes , I have to pay to get it taken away to be recycled.
I could easily just get it chucked in the skip bins.

I recycle more than 99% of my friends.

The per capita theory you keep banging on about is ridiculous when you take into account tthe actual level of emissions China pumps out.
Don’t worry how many people live there.
That really is incomparable.
Are you going to ride a bike to work everyday?
Are you going to live on top of thousands and thousands of other people in Chinese apartment suburbs?

Look at the actual damage.
It is vastly different to us.

All you say is we should reduce.
Which we are.

What we are doing supposedly isn't enough according to the scientist.

Oh well. Nothing is going to change. We don't want to do it, they don't want to do it. Won't get done.

Probably just pointless talking about it now.
