Come on now mate.

This borce rivetski
The same time his wife went missing
This was used to convict him.
I could post these pics all day long .
Ey quicksilver
Still waiting to hear what actual thing you think the government is spying on you for.
Ok sorry I wasn’t aware that every post in this thread had to relate directly to Scomo and only to Scomo.
I’ve taken us off path.
I’ll being us back
That’s a nice point. But not what I’m arguing as I’m sure you’ll be aware.
I did put a post earlier.
Maybe I’ll put a post later.
I write these posts in between working.
In the meantime u can do your own research on the issues of you like (I’m sure you won’t because you don’t think it important)
So you weren’t there talking about The Australian government spying on us?
So you weren’t there talking about The Australian government spying on us?
And you don’t seem to able, or are unwilling to grasp a very simple point. The original post was calling ‘scummo’ a nazi. It's not because I don't like the arguments that they are extreme. Nor is it the "distance" they are from my ideological position (I'm not actually opposed to public cameras, for example, whereas I have "extreme" views on a wide range of things, compared to the "moderate" position").
It is the argument style, where one part of one argument is taken up, the rest is ignored, or one counter factual of some point is taken to show the whole premise is wrong. It is not a genuine way to make a case.
I believe I acknowledged an error when Carcharias pulled me up for saying that people were saying Quicksilver was pro pedos, which Carcharias clearly did not say, and neither did anyone else.
I am happy to say my use of the word extreme here, was unclear. A glib line like "extreme and meme" is easy to interpret the way you did.
Who here has not admitted an error, in style or facts or substansive argument?
The ad hom filled, trolling, single line, emoji using, teenage girl threatening, refusing to answer questions, bed wetter phobic, "genuine question" ingenuine question using, conservative arguers in this thread (with a few exceptions, apologies to those conservatives making an attempt). Maybe you could find some hypocrisy there, too.
Do you remember my "leaping defense?"
I pointed out that claims based on the horrific nature of the authoritarian Nazi regime are troubling.
But claims that the Nazis used democracy and eroded it are fine, if you are saying that to remind people when they see democracy being eroded that it can lead to authoritarian states.
Just as Quicksilver said.
I don't get why this bothers anyone. We can't use Pol Pot as an example of this. He never eroded any democracy.
We can only talk about democracies that have "allowed" (keeping in mind this is not a universal acceptance from everyone within those democracies) themselves to become authoritarian, and we can only point out the things that lead to that, with reference to a few, very horrible regimes.
If Nazi Germany doesn't remind us to guard democracy against politicians who would destroy it, from all sides of politics, then I don't know what will.
The Government is bigger than Scomo.
And yes I was talking about the Government “spying” on us. More worried about the government collecting large volumes of data initially. But in the long run, yeah I am, among other things
I was picturing Dennis Hopper in Apocalypse Now when he has that rant about the government using mind control. You need to get of the house more.
Or the basement at least.
what data?
OkMeta data, facial recognition software, motor vehicle recognition software, walking gait tracking software etc etc etc.
I have not equated the similar situation arising in this country. It would take a lot of desperate things to happen. I've just said that the extent to which things are being done by politicians to destroy democracy is the extent to which they can be judged as performing the same activities that Nazis used to destroy their democracies. It is happy happenstance that other conditions mean they fail to retain power, undemocratically.
Yep, our governments fail us all the time. They try to erode democracy, so they can stay in power. And we push back against it (usually, eventually, when we are not being too partisan).
Why do we do this? Because we know from Hitler, that when democracies fail and become authoritarian, the consequences are terrible.
We know a free press, even a terrible one, is important, because otherwise things like the "Night of Long Knives" are reported as attempts to stop treason.
I'd like to think none of our politicians would take authoritative control over our democracy if, through a series of circumstances and their previous undemocratic "underpinning of their support", they were able to. And even if they did, I'd like to think they'd be better than Hitler (not a high bar). But we don't know those things, we can't judge them.
So we must instead be vigilant when politicians do erode democracy, and push back against it. We have to point out that Nazi Germany is what can happen when we don't push back, even if it might take other circumstances as well to happen. We can't just hope politicians given a chance to be authoritarian won't, or hope that when they erode democracy that the circumstances will prevent them destroying it. We have to make those circumstances that prevent politicians from become authoritarian, by pointing out that Nazi Germany happened when politicians in a democracy were allowed to undermine that democracy.
And if you are worried about big brother checking your every move, live in China,Cuba,Venezuela,Iran or Russia.
That's why watches are needed on authoritarian Govts of the left and right.
After the Hungarian revolution of 56 and the Czech ,we still had a few people within the Labor party with a communist background ,who could see no fault in Russian Communism.
.LIve under Communism or Nazism and you'll understand what lack of freedom is all about.
But what could they do if I'm just going to work and taking a shit and looking at League Unlimited?
Don’t forget wanking.
Ha you have been brainwashed all your life by MSM! Our biggest problem will be our obeyance to the US military industrial system, using our troops for their continuing regime change aggression!Of course it would take a lot of desperate things to happen ,such as Great depressions, huge unemployment ,fear of a takeover which I have monotonously stated.Or even a massive famine.
We are nowhere within a bull's roar of that situation, plus we have a strong,Parliament and reasonably strong economy. which has been the case here for ages.
We are vigilant ,with judiciary ,.a well educated population, strong defence force that defends our people, a press that won't let Govts or opposition get away with anything, even on the odd occasion they lie to sell the point. The populace have rejected extremist types at the polls.
And when Govts fail us, they are thrown out at following elections.
The devastating results of WW11, have shown the world and this country that militant expansionism by an authoritarian Govt achieves nothing but death and destruction. And nuclear weapons in the background tend to prevent any country going down this horrendous path.
My old man, like hundreds o thousands of others was involved in WW11 (as a Rat of Tobruk and a POW for 3 1/2 years in Java.)No need to tell me about the need for vigilance.
Mate give the Australian public some semblance of commonsense.and politician that tried the old PM for life routine wouldn't last 5 minutes..
The country I fear is China ,Taiwan will be taken over down the line.It appears now there was a lot of cover up on the start of the coronavirus.Even to the extent that the virus escaped from a laboratory. That's where our vigilance should lie.
