Matter of fact I live within a km of where he Morrison lived and everyone I know who has had dealings with him, say he's compassionate, down to earth and listens.Yes there are criticisms at times.

So you were there when he visited people who suffered from the bushfires in Qld and Nthn NSW ,before he went to Hawaii ,did you? And the drought affected areas? You obviously have not a clue about that.
Like the media ,look only at the negatives.

You were there when he and the various State premiers and doctors are spending 7 days a week up to 18 hours per day on the odd occasion ,to work out policies to save people and their jobs.No other Govt in this country has had to put up with this world wide disaster of this health and economic magnitude.And yes because of the great unknown at times errors will be made.This all about the well being of the community sheesh.

Unfortunately like the rest of the world ,our kids and grandkids will be the ones paying for the debt.
Next you'll be blaming the Govt for the virus.

I suggest you have a look at a country of 1.3bn that has a communistic/socialistic one party system, that controls media ,religion, and many other state enterprises, where this whole virus horror started, and ask yourself why the hell didn't they tell the world back in November.Two doctors blew the whistle, one died ,the other has disappeared.Then they tell the world after two months.
Direct your fire at that country, their leaders and system are a friggin disgrace to humanity.

Sure, nobody is forcing you to discuss this (I hope).

I said the communication has been poor, because we have had no overall strategy, modelling or research behind the government actions. And it is not just me saying that, I've quoted a whole bunch of epidemiologists and members of the AMA.

You haven't actually shown that they have communicated these things (as you can't because they haven't), so like Eion, you've justified why they don't have to (even though the USA, NZ and the UK managed to do it). They certainly didn't cover it well in the press conference yesterday, but again, we got some hints (like we have most this week, but that is still after my comment about the communication being poor, way too late in the piece, and these hints don't really catch it up to being good).

But if you are happy to be treated like a mushroom in a democracy, that is your own prerogative and it is not my role to convince you otherwise. I raised communication of these things as one issue that I have with how our governments have handled the coronavirus crisis, people denied that these things weren't being done and accused me of hating the federal government so much I was biased, and now it seems no one can see that these things have been communicated, so instead they are saying why they are not important to them.

So that is fine. I'm not OK with not being told these important things in one of the most important times in our history, and I can see that you are OK with that, and that obviously won't change.

Absolutely. This is a nightmare in Spain, Italy, New York. And only just beginning. We would be there too (still could be) except for social distancing and the actions of our governments. It would be easier to fake the moon landing or 911 (I don't for a minute believe those conspiracies) than the news out of those places. You do know the deadliest virus ever was "just a flu" don't you? (in terms of total deaths).

SARS and MERS were very deadly. The clinical consequences of this aren't as bad.

But the population consequences are much worse, as it spreads much more easily than SARS or MERS did. More easily than the flu even, and more deadly than the flu.

As it is, the flu kills hundreds of thousands world wide every year. If we don't contain coronavirus, this could kill that many just in Australia.

Countries like the UK, and US have done terribly so far, so we are crushing it compared to them. Places like Singapore and NZ are doing fine also, so it will be interesting to see how our different approaches go, but hopefully we all do well.

It's a bit early in the piece to celebrate too much. We have done well so far, a few months in. We have 6, 12, maybe 18 months to go before we can really say how successful we've been.
