What I do like about our team when Scott has his head up is that it looks like a team with a halfback.
The Titans game was particularly frustrating afterwards when I was trying to remember any impact our halves had on the game. Mullen was solid enough, Rogers was forgettable, but overall I didn't exactly notice them playing much of a role. The Titans, however, had Prince, and he was very noticeable. Whatever the reasons for the Knights going into their shell and just enduring the match, whether it was the heat, cobwebs, injuries, there was an abundance of nothing doing with our halves.
I don't like games where the halves disappear, with the match then becoming an exercise in one-out running; it's tedious to watch any team without lateral movement or occasional creative play, especially when they are desparate for it. I love to watch the ball being thrown around, and the playmakers making plays, and although the final 10 minutes of the game yesterday got a bit stupid, it was heartening to see Scott getting restless and showing a bit of effort.
I won't talk Scott up above his capability, that's silly. You could fill his position with many other players, and they could be the difference in the team's performance, provided they are willing to get involved and busy. At the moment, we've got Dureau. The thing I like about him, for better or worse, is that he tries things, then keeps trying, and due to persistence and the ability to quite often successfully do what he tries, I notice him for the whole game. If nothing else, it's something to build on.
