The potential for injury to the defender in this ''tackle'' was huge. Shoulder charges have very little control and very high potential to go wrong.

The crazy thing about this is if Feki had suffered an injury (small or large) from this ''tackle'', billy gets off still.

That is absurd.

The Blake one was round 17, close to 3 months ago. Not hard to see why it wasn't charged, and no-one said a word until this Slater tackle came up. There really is a need to clarify the shoulder charge over the off-season. Neither tackle was deserving of even a penalty. Blake appears to have made contact near the hip.

Yep.

But on the other hand , if it was Feki who dropped his shoulder and run over the top of Slater it is deemed ok because he has the ball .

It is the same as the tackle in the air rule , it only applies to the defending team but they claim it is about safety

Rules are already designed to cover Dangerous tackles or High tackles and those are the rules that should be applied

That doesn't matter.

This is a high profile case with alot of public exposure, this is the time the nrl needed to stand strong.

But they didn't, and now any shoulder charge that comes up will have to be let off.
Stand strong?

It’s an independent process, the independent MRP charged him, the independent Judiciary hears the case prosecuted by the NRL and chaired by an independent judge.

Apparently he won't even be right for the start of next season.

A shoulder charge is a shoulder charge.
They are completely different tackles, but both are shoulder charges.
Exaclty.

Whether injury is inflicted or not manes no difference. The potential for injury is there every single time.

For the people saying ''oh well the player wasn't injured so he shouldn't be penalised'', you're basically saying you can shoot a gun at somebody but if you miss thats ok, he wasn't injured.''

Billy Slater
Williamus Nothisgoa

Found mostly in North Queensland and parts of Victoria, Billy Slater is a quick and evasive species that's difficult to be caught. There have been several sightings of Billy Slater striking other mammals with his studded feet, charging prey with the shoulder and striking other mammals with his forearm unprovoked.

However, there are some who contest these sightings, claiming that Billy Slater is a peaceful animal who only attacks when provoked, while others hotly contest these sightings altogether and claim that it is completely uncharacteristic of Billy Slater to behave in such a fashion and that researchers in parts of NSW have an agenda to label Billy Slater a new species of grub.

Researchers in Victoria dispute this, as they claim to have never seen a grub with purple colouring, while Queensland-based researches argue that grub characteristics have never been evident from native species in their area.

Look im all for the shoulder charge, I love it, but a rule was set and then it wasn't enforced.

Kent & Ikin have labelled the NRL’s prosecuter “Third String”, despite being the back up and having successfully prosecuted several judiciary cases this year and Kent said “there’s Dennis Denuto prosecuting the case”.

Maybe he can show them how good he is by suing them for defamation?

Surely the basis for defamation is that anyone gives a f**k or pays any heed to what the potential 'defamer' says. Therefore, no point taking action against Paul Kent.

They might just have to allow shoulder charges again. The NRL makes a joke of themselves trying to tell us what it is.

The best was in 2016 when Mick Ennis shoulder-charged a player without charge and then a few days later Jack Wighton pulls of the exact same shoulder charge, but about ten times more brutal, and gets charged. Then in an attempt to clarify, that numpty Garlick comes out and describes the Ennis tackle and why he wasn’t charged. The problem there was that description exactly matched Wighton’s tackle so then Wighton gets off. Both were clear shoulder charges. I think this event caused the NRL to re-define what a shoulder-charge is and now they’ve gone and made a mockery of it again lol.

To be honest the JWH tackle that broke RCG's jaw looked more like a shoulder charge than either of these, but it wasn't charged either.

Whacking someone with the shoulder and causing injury is fine and dandy as long as the arm is loose.
