PARAMATTA Eels players and officials started worrying about Semi Radradra when he suddenly cleared out his rented home unit more than two weeks ago.
It’s when all the talk started that he wanted to quit the NRL.
Semi is a private man but word soon got around of his relationship breakdown and split from his long term partner and the mother of his 18-month-old daughter.
The unit he rented within a couple of kilometres of Parramatta Stadium was soon vacated.
WHAT’S THE BUZZ II: Saint, Sinner, Shoosh
It has been common knowledge Radradra has been the target of cashed-up French rugby union clubs for some time. Well before he was chosen to play for the Kangaroos last month.
There was even talk he would do a Sonny Bill Williams and just disappear.
His manager George Christodoulou has only fuelled that speculation by refusing to take media enquiries or even return phone calls, leaving the struggling Fijian to fend for himself.
The Eels have no plans to release him early from his contract which expires at the end of the 2018 season.
They say he has been given permission to return to his family in Fiji this week because the club has a bye next weekend.
He is then expected to be back on deck on Monday week for the following game against the Sharks.
The Eels are hoping that’s the case because the last thing they need is their number one personality player to walk out after what has already been the most tumultuous year in the club’s history.
