"I think Cronulla are very lucky to have hung on to it (the premiership)" - Paul Kent on 360 tonight
Yep, even old mate kenty with his past tense reference has conceded the sharks will forever have their premiership. Roosters, cows, storm et al in recent years aren’t out of the woods yet.

I demand ongoing independent full access forensic accountant audits for all clubs who have won a premiership going back 7 years.

Can you imagine the saltiness of kentys tears if the sharks won this year, with Fifita for the match winning try again? Please let it happen.

That’s pretty close to Melbourne when they were over by $1000k in 2006 or whenever.

Smiths right. It’s the same. Give them back the trophy.

And that is the year it is alledged “it ramped up”

In all seriousness I reckon the Sharks are being punished more for what they planned to do, rather than what they did do.

Everyone needs to remember this mob cannot cheat right. Idiots

Parra got several spoons while cheating... No one is taking their crown

Sharks tried to cheat.. The fact they failed shouldn't matter. Their punishment proves that no one will get majorly punished again

Because Paul Kent thinks something ,doesn't mean he is correct. And he has been found wanting before.
He is not a lawyer, whereas Weeks the head of the Integrity unit is.
Of all the clubs the NRL would like to relocate ,the Sharks would be up there near the top of their picks. This was the case prior to SL, as the ARL under Arko had a similar view.

Thus if 2016 had been such as Kent had portrayed it, and that has been disputed by the NRL as it was nothing like Melbourne, the NRL would clearly been justified in their view to take away the premiership and put them up for relocation.
Neither has been suggested or spelt out by the NRL..Neither has the CEO who now works at another club been disciplined, if it were as portrayed by a guy who has hardly a soft spot for the Sharks.

IOW the NRL viewed the 2016 season as being competed for under the salary cap, also an anomaly was self reported by Russell.Any TPAs that may have been promised did not eventuate.
The comparison with the Storm, is like comparing the mating habits of a garden worm to those of an elephant.

Getting fined a large sum and having salary cap penalties for a club with little money ,is hardly a pat on the back saying ,all's good.

One should also do some research on the number of times clubs(many) have exceeded the salary cap, during a season. Now that has given them an unfair advantage,it can be argued, but agenda driven Kent wouldn't even touch that view.

1000k? thats great maths..

Cheating is cheating, I don't think we should get ours back but some constancy would be nice
Thanks. It’s accurate.

It was written like that so you could see a direct comparison in thousands.

Melbourne were over the cap by 5 times as much as Cronulla. Melbourne were over in the year they won the competition.

I should have compared it to drink driving.
Sharks were low range 0.06.
Melbourne were high range 0.3

Do they both have the same penalty?

Or should I use something else.

Melbourne are like Ted Bundy, whilst the sharks are a common assault.

It’s not the same and should never be assumed to be the same.

Out of interest? What should the punishment be?

The board members and management responsible are already no longer at the club. The club was fined essentially the breaches total ($500,000 suspended), and they have been given a reduced salary cap for the next two seasons to handicap them.

If you compare this to Storm who systematically cheated to the tune of $3.78M (including years where they won the premierships) - they were stripped of those premiership since they cheated those seasons, they were fined a total of $500K. It gets reported that they were fined $1.689M but outside of the $500K it is simply returning prize money won those seasons. And since 2010 they were over the cap by $1M, there was no realistic chance of adjusting their squad so they were barred from earning premiership points.

Does the amount matter? To go all the trouble of creating a new company to produce invoices to pay players outside of cap. Should atleast attract a points deduction or something to stop other clubs doing the same?
