Seeing the Sharks fans try and defend this on social media is hilarious.

The very same people who were baying for blood in 2010, appalled by the systematic cheating, are now clambering over one another to defend it. Almost all of them are now trying to say, "This is way different to the Storm in 2010, we were under the cap, we just didn't record our TPAs correctly".

Huh??? That is exactly the same you disingenuous people. Not reporting all TPAs to the NRL, organising a number of TPAs, using existing club sponsors, guaranteeing TPA payments = All illegal TPA deals. If it is illegal, it gets included in your Salary Cap - THE SAME AS US!

As we all agree, YOU are hypocrites.
I wish you’d stop bringing disingenuous people into the argument KMAV. The colour of ones skin is irrelevant.

Hope this scum club gets taken down. They should have been banned after the peptide scandal. Now salary cap??!! Take their 2016 Premiership off them. NOW!!!
The Melbourne Storm breach was $3.78M over 5 years.
The Sharks breach is alleged to be $250k.
You are seriously trying to equate the two ???

Any eventual punishment by the NRL will be proportionate to the size of the breach Vs the cap in place in at the time ... but Storm fans baying for the same punishment as their 2007 & 2009 titles being stripped are delusional cretins.

As Greenberg said yesterday "On the matters before me, as they currently sit, this is not on the scale of previous salary cap investigations at clubs like Manly, Parramatta or further back at the Storm. This is isn’t a scale like we’ve seen before.”

Gutter tabloid journos like Kent & Hooper can speculate without facts all they want ... they might as well speculate the sky will fall in tomorrow.

The findings in the Melbourne breach were orchestrated by the same people you seem to hate and the same people who just kicked out the Prime Minister. they were orchestrated by Rupert Murdoch and his cronnies who basically run the NRL but ran it even more in 2010.

The Melbourne Salary cap breaches were never that amount. The Melbourne club was forced to include third party deals like Cameron smiths contract with Foxtel, which certainly should not have been included. Also we were forced to include some third party deals that the NRL had previously signed off on.

And I get it, it is degrees of being over the salary cap.

But you can not have one rule for one and one rule for another.

So if the Sharks get off; then the Melbourne Storm should be handed back their 2007 and 2009 premierships as well.

you are saying cheating over 3 years is jaywalking?? I think you underestimate your offence.

No chance in hell they were clean in 2016. Cap rorting doesn't magically stop for 12 months. It ramps up. Putting that aside for a moment, the illegal payments made in 2015 helped them keep an illegal team for the 2016 season, no matter how you slice it... They should be immediately stripped on the 2016 title.

Self reported to the NRL in March after a internal governance review conducted new management team came into the club. This is how good management operates.

In addition to this, they have freely made all information available to the NRL prior to yesterdays 'breaking story'.

Even after the NRL's press conference, the stark contrast between the stories printed by News Ltd. journalist and those of ABC, Fairfax (well.. I guess NINE) has been unbelievable. A brief look at the context would shed light on the reasons for this, even for the daftest people who continue to read the Daily Telegraph.

The Storms have had a great run of success over the last 20 years.

I'm not sure why they'd be so threatened by one little Sydney club with one tiny bit of joy over 50 years.

But whatever floats your boat.

I'm not threatened by you. I want you to keep your title. I even wouldn't mind if you won this year.

But the whole system should be fair.
