When we started Sharkcast podcasts were new and fresh. Credit to Sam for being on the cusp as it was all his idea. We were the first supporter pod in the entire NRL world and were in the press as a result which was wild to me.

Kudos to you both for being ahead of the curve on that one.
I haven't been a regular listener for years but it's still the only one I'll listen to if I have time.

These days every man and his dog has a podcast.

I often muse to myself about what conversations must be like when people introduce themselves these days:

Person 1: "Hi, I'm <insert name here>"
Person 2: "I'm <insert name here>. What's your podcast called?"
Person 1: "<insert podcast name here>. What's yours?"

At any rate, glad to hear you're getting on top of the mental health side of things.

Been waiting to hear this for so long.

I am 100% with you on the pulling back from a team dictating your happiness state. I also care a lot less these days overall and it’s a lot better to not have a footy loss ruin a weekend. Having two kids to concentrate on and explaining how a sharks loss is perfectly fine and part of life has really helped that.

I think winning in 2016 was my ‘that’ll do pig’ or ‘yoda drifting off moment’. I didn’t even celebrate much post win and was just exhausted after it all.

Still enjoy the pods for a listen and a laugh at the click bait/engagement bait of Fins Up occasionally as well.
2016 was like that, I thought if we won the comp I'd go on a week long bender but after the game it was just a mixture of relief, contentment and exhaustion all rolled into one. Took a few years to start really getting right back into it but I definitely care again. Sometimes too much but not at pre 2016 levels.

Wilson episode absolute great listen.

Great story as well for kids teaching them just because you don’t make junior rep sides doesn’t mean it’s all over for you.

Podcast idea: Hit up the Cosmo Hotel connection for a guest interview, and then try and swing some sweet deals for accomodation if you use the special code ‘Sharkcast’ 😂

Super interesting chat.

I'm halfway in but how Gus talks about building a culture, a club and how you should basically be looking for a 7 in their mid to late 20's. New style of young coaches who have had the development work vs old days of hiring an old player. Panthers and storm above everyone but 3rd and 4th (roosters/sharks) flogged all below. His view on the storm having 3 fullbacks in their spine and panthers had two play makers (Cleary and Luai) who ran for over 200m in the gf.

Wish we made this dickhead love us years ago not just live here.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Dino sound him out after he left the Panthers?
The fee was the issue?
I think he and Dino are mates somewhat, definitely coffee partners.
Gus did make contact after JAC got done and asked how to handle it as we'd done with Tricky.
Our method worked out better.

Yeah we did make a play but I reckon he would have did to us what he did to the Warriors. Also we don't have the freedom to cut/sack/pay out like he loves to do. Super worried about him poaching our jnrs. See Xerri the other day claim he was actually a Bulldogs jnr. Bell end.

Tricky didn't tell porkies though.

Gus is an interesting dude. He said all of that on another cast as well. Might have been The Bah Round. He's a bit behind the great man, me, with the fullbacks in the spine thing though.
