Should Mary be sacked?

Wow....victory....I love the way I have been criticised and lampooned for speaking up and saying get rid of Mary every day this entire year.....i have been subject to ridicule and told I know little.

It has been obvious from early in the season that McGregor cannot coach this team to attack...neither can his support staff. We have heard all the excuses that the attack will come like a miracle from heaven once the "D" is in place and the errors stop. "D" will only win so many matches...you have to score points to win matches.

The style of play the current Dragons play will not and cannot change any further with the current coaching team in place. So if everyone is happy to see out the current season with the results and playing style similar to what we have seen to date, then well and good, by all means McGregor should stay.

If we want to see any sort of improvement in results, the coach needs to go...NOW. Of course the apologists will say give him more time, they are improving, it will suddenly all click like a miracle, as many did for Price...giving him the benefit of the doubt. But unfortunately it won't come. Currently what we have seen in the first third of the comp is what we will get for the rest of the season..so don't hope for some miraculous transformation, you'll be sadly disappointed as I have been this year...

I never thought I'd see a worse coach than Price, perhaps I was wrong as it's line ball with Mary as his clone. The big difference is pricey got sacked & now runs the Drinks, whilst Mary didn't get sacked for driving on the drink.

Mary was the attacking coach who got Price sacked

They should both be running the water bottles for their teams. Neither is within a bulls roar of being a FG coach.

I know we have been unlucky with bloody ref calls, but if our coach can't coach an attacking structure or game plan, surely we have players who can use footy vision and play what is in front of them? It's a lot more than just the Coach...we are soft and lack any pride...I see a bunch of guys just playing week to week and getting a nice pay packet...

I suppose it depends on the consequences of not following the coach's game plan.

The time to play what was in front of them was in the last 20 mins of the second half, but they just had so many brain farts it was unbelievable. Sloppy forward passes, dropped balls, complete disorganisation...they just appeared to get flustered.

It's understandable I suppose, once the Warriors got out to a 14 point lead, you could tell the boys knew they had no answers.

I just watched the press conference and while I think Mary has potential as a coach, I don't think he'll reach it. His explanation for some of the selections today shows more 'mad scientist' than 'genius' and gives me no confidence going forward

I hate to say it, but I think we need to move on and sound out Toovey (or Cleary).

On Deano and Hornby, please...please...if they have any real coaching aspirations, they need to fly the red and white coup and learn the trade elsewhere under the watchful eyes of a proven, successful coach. It'd be in the best interests of all.

TBH even if we appointed Neil Henry instead of Mary, I think we would be in a similar position.

But what I don't understand is Doust's reasoning in signing Mary. If I was doust, I would have appointed henry or someone else external. From a pure perspective of saving his own job, it would have made more sense. If he signed another coach instead of Mary, and we still had similar results, at least he could turn around and say I listened to the supporters and signed someone external.

So this tells me either he is dumb as a door nail, or so supremely arrogant and assured that his job is never under threat.

Your kidding aren't you? Replace him with who? And don't just start plucking names from existing clubs, IT WONT HAPPEN.

Sack Mary, and all you'll get for a replacement is Millward, or Hornby, or Craig Young will have another crack, or worse they'll get that assistant coach from the club down the road who are going OK.

Mary may deserve to be sacked, but unless there is a suitable replacement, I'll stick with the devil I know.

Doubt Brian Smith would be interested. I'd be happy with Cleary. Trouble is whoever gets the job really needs to do what Bennett did and bring their own trainer, their own recruiter, their own assistant coach. If you just replace Mary, you still get the dud support staff.
