he might be a dumb merkin, but he's a big step up when compared to most of our wingers.

if he doesnt go to jail, i'd grab him for sure.

Frenzy.

Ahhh people, he's not guilty of anything yet. Some papparazzi style pic in that low rag the Telegraph hardly counts as evidence.

However, to the point, yes grab him. He's a class act on the field.

Howdy Poiner,

I just went over into the Stains forum to try and find out anything.

Willow has posted this in the Saints room in responce to a thread in there about Wes,,,

This is what Willow posted...

Google will give you the online version.

You forgot to mention that its a Rebecca Wilson article.

It doesn't actually say he was driving, although that's the clear insinuation. It says he was photographed behind the wheel.

Naiqama facing jail term
By Rebecca Wilson and Phil Rothfield

November 19, 2006 12:00

ST GEORGE Illawarra winger Wes Naiqama is facing a possible jail term after being photographed behind the wheel of a car while disqualified from driving.

The Dragons star is banned from driving until 2013, but was pictured in Saturday's Daily Telegraph getting into the driver's seat of a Toyota car with his sometime girlfriend, singer Paulini.

Another photo which was not published shows Naiqama actually driving the car away from the Surry Hills cafe the couple had visited on Friday afternoon.

The 23-year-old winger was disqualified from driving until 2013 last December and fined $2500 at Downing Centre Local Court.

It was his fourth serious driving offence.

St George Illawarra officials could not be contacted last night but a source at the club said Naiqama would almost certainly be facing the sack.

"The club has tried very hard to help Wes with different problems off the field,'' the source said.

"But they can only tolerate so much.''

Surry Hills police last night confirmed they'd bring Naiqama in for questioning after they had seen the photographs.

"I think we would have a pretty good case,'' a police spokesman said.

"If we have the statements and the photos there won't be a problem in charging him with a driving offence.

NSW police traffic commander John Hartley added:

"We will view the photographs and seek the assistance of the photographer and if there is evidence of an offence taken place we will take action.''

based on that one photo, doesn't seem they can do much. Whose to say it isn't photoshopped?

Either way given our penchant for picking up goalkickers I would say we would be interested. He's cheap as well, not in the top 25 at the Stains and works a second job there behind the bar I think.

Definitely better than any winger we currently have on our books.

The guy is already banned from driving until 2013 which indicates that he is a repeat offender of both bad driving and driving while banned. It's odds on that the photo is genuine, but even if it isn't then history shows Wes WILL drive again and WILL get caught.

The photos have to show him behind the wheel driving off or at least attempting to put the vehicle in motion. Just getting in the drivers door means fugg all to proving the offence.

If they do and Wes doesnt admit to it the photographer/s and anyone else would have to provide statements and be willing to testify in court. ID would have to be proven i.e. how the photographer knew it was Wes, how many times he has previoulsy seen him etc etc. I dont think it would be a difficult case to prove IMO. And there is a very real chance that Wes could go to jail. He is not banned until 2013 for nothing.

Would love him at the sharks.
