hearing reports the dragons are close to sealing a package deal for both Tariq and Ashton sims to return home, but having complications to get a release for the third brother Korbin as he is contracted until the end of 2015 season.

Do we want this deal to go through with the inclusion of Ashton? we all know he has a few penalties in him per game...!

If it does go through the likes of these three plus Tom Leroy-Lars, the forward pack is starting get a bit of size back into it.

We need brawn no doubt but brains would be handy in terms of penalty counts.

I rate the Sims brothers as ordinary players; nothing special. Surely we need to go after more talanted forwards.

Also, who are the Sims trio going to replace in our current top 9 run on forwards?

Creagh
Stockwell
De Belin
Frizell
Thompson
Cooper
Merrin
Ah Mau
Hunt

Tom LL, Sims borthers and new coach next year would be awesome.

We just need to get rid of Creagh, Hunt and Harrison...

True, our current forwards are clean as a whistle and dont give away penalties..:sarcasm:

I would cop a couple of penalties if it meant opposition forwards thought twice before running into a Sims shoulder. Ashton may be prone to mistakes but hes a hard player, and if those mostakes mean we can score Tariq and Korbin, bring it on.

As for where they fit, I'd put all three ahead of Hunt, Harrison, Ah Mau, Matthews, I'd put Korbin above JDB and Stockwell and I'd put Tariq above everyone bar Merrin.

Ashton is... ok-ish. His apparent hardman persona doesn't ring true for me, he seems to use it as compensation for his inadequacies in other areas. Most of the time it manifests itself in dumb play. He's a bench player at best imo, but I'd take him, if it meant getting Tariq

What worries me about Ashton is he hasn't improved as a player. He has games where he is solid ,but still has that stupid error in him, going back to days with us and that error which cost the Broncos a GF place.
He is better than Dan Hunt though.

Tariq and Korbin would be great. Ashton isn't amazing but would be on par with much of what we have. The package deal would be a good idea and maybe put a bit of spirit back in the club. The brothers were very good playing together for Fiji at the World Cup. It's the TLL signing that has me worried. No point being big if you are slow and injury-prone.

As it happens last time I looked at the stats Tariq was actually giving away more penalties than Ashton, believe it or not. Now a two week ban. Ashton has been playing strongly but still has the latent errors in him. Imo he has actually been more effective than Tariq, who must still be suffering some confidence issues following the leg breaks you would think. I agree Ashton overplays the hardman persona a bit, but he does run strongly, something we need.
Haven't seen enough of Korbin really.

Clearly a heap of talent and/or potential in the trio. Getting it to surface and remain consistent seems to be the challenge. Lots of opportunity depending on the cost I suppose.

Would be good if we can also get the Morris family together as well.

Sims brothers would definatly be a step up from AuMau, Matthews and Harrison.

Ashton is a plodder, but he's a big plodder.

Of course you'd take him in a package deal. We shipped them off that way, won a comp in the interim and now we can bring them home.

Ashton would be nothing more than a role player, but at least he's a body that can hold the middle. Also lets our back rowers play back row and not prop. Its killing JDB & Friz.
