Dangerous game to be reliant on finishing in top 2 to make ends meet!
Pretty sure their revenues are amongst the top super league clubs anyway

And the stadium is getting upgraded

Les Catalans are literally the only time expansion has been a real success since castleford lol

MW selling well on its return to Newcastle. Still 100 days to go:

It has been confirmed that over 20,000 tickets have been sold already for the blockbuster weekend and the identity of the top five supported teams has also been revealed.
A statement on SuperLeague.co.uk revealed: “Over 20,000 tickets have already been sold since Magic Weekend was announced as returning back to its spiritual home of St. James’ Park.

Lucky it didn’t get canned like img wanted
Wigans owner wanted it scrapped as well. IMG wanted to replace it with a 9's comp I believe. The SL fixture list is too long and congested at moment with loop fixtures, CC etc. Stuck between rock and hard place as home games are the main revenue for clubs but too many games is a challenge for the players and quality.

Magic’s a great idea and should never have been canned

A nines as a replacement is an awful idea.

Like when the cup final was played at Cardiff Edinburgh etc so should magic

And France is such an obvious choice either Paris or toulose / Lyon / marseille

I'd like to see MW on the road more. There's some great stadiums in Uk it could be played at. Keeps it fresh for fans. After the sht hole of Elland Rd last year the fans will be glad to be back in Newcastle in 2025. Dont think it would work in France, you'd be reliant on a lot of French attending. RL fans in UK are not a cashed up lot like NRL fans lol

Travel to france is cheap af

You’d easily get 20k French locals

Catalans get amongst the highest away fans going in super league

3.1 million for Wigan down to 1.7 million,
with Salford set to be drastically cut

Many big clubs have seen revenue declines of a million quid on pre covid levels
just pure guesswork lol. Sky sports dont have access to club or player accounts.

What is everybody's ideal superleague?! How many teams & which teams?! @Wb1234 @Perth Red @shadowformz
Probably better for a different thread but......IF the tv money was there, which it isnt at the moment, Id like to see it go to 14 clubs quickly, then in 5 years 16 clubs with an eventual goal of 18 clubs.

Who would I have in (presuming they can get their sht together)?
Bradford
York
Toulouse
London
Wales
Sheffield
Newcastle

Who could we afford to lose based on current strength of club and fanbase:
Huddersfield
Salford

Losing Salford means no club in or near Manchester.
Final four need investment.

Ideally we would have a vibrant Salford appealing to the whole of Manchester. But they are a long long way from that. Like any club if a multi millionaire came along and set it up right it would do ok, but there's not many of them around unfortunately.

All of those clubs Ive listed would require significant extra investment to become a thriving SL club. But they are the ones for me with most potential for a variety of reasons, and that would help SL with its geographic reach .

This looks good, though I'd really like to see it expand slowly into Europe, I think a Dutch team would be fantastic for the international expansion of the game. A team here would open the door into Belgium and Germany.

I don't see any of those teams being feasible. UK teams don't want french teams in areas with strong league culture.

A Dutch team may well be a reality down the track but there's a lot of work to do there first. Im not a fan of the Toronto approach of just parachuting a license in with no infrastructure below it. We've tried it numerous times and its failed every time.
