What's your problem mate? I was unable to find any information on Crocker and Flannery. Hardly shooting my mouth off - my point still stands. In fact the only difference is this statement is wrong
Crocker and Flannery weren't developed by the roosters in my book.

Funny you didn't refute my claims but let SR do it you dumb bastard.

Actually Michael Crocker was born in NSW and moved to QLD and played his junior football up in QLD before moving back to NSW when he was 17 and becoming a Roosters scholarship player.

Chris Flannery also surprisingly was born in NSW and followed the same path as Crocker not local juniors but bought into the Roosters as 16-17 yr olds.

The Roosters do not have the area or the population to compete on a level playing field with other sides when it comes to development of local juniors. St George Dragons are the same but they merged with Illawarra and fund football in the Illawarra and hence get a lot of developed talent from there. Whilst there St George competition whilst still pretty good is dwindling in numbers as the demographic and cultural background of the area changes.

Just on Jason Cayless to say the Roosters developed him is a joke.

He may have been on the bench but that was because he had his brother (then Kiwi Captain and starting test prop) and Michael Vella (then NSW and austrlaian regular and having his best season ever) ahead of him.

J.Cayless played for City Origin in 2001 (while still at Parra)

I'm not denying that the Roosters do have a successfull development program being able to take a player at a young age from another area and develop them similar to Parramatta with for example Hindmarsh.

however, don't you dare claim J.Cayless as a Rooster developed player.

Balmain Boy... plz get over yourself! these players were nothing at their club so ricky gave them a chance in 2002 to prove themselves they are the real deal in the NRL! who cares if we didnt develop our own players... the bulldogs did not develop their players like Brent sherwin, he was developed under st george, Steve price was developed under wayne bennett, hazem el masri was developed from souths junior... does that make sense to you now?

Cheers 35-0 :D

Soward is a Raiders junior. Roosters fans are like the Kremlin under Stalin. They would have us believe that Russia developed the aeroplane, the steam engine and the wheel.

Spot the bandwagoner. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
Idiot.

I'm not a dogs fan so you can lay off them for a start. Secondly those 3 were all developed by the dogs. In fact Sherwin is a padstow junior dickhead.

He's a dickhead, for sure ... but I don't know about a junior dickhead. I'd say he's a senior dickhead.

Hmmm I thought they were both brought in via the Redcliffe feeder connection. I'll take your word for it SR, one of the few reasonable roosters' fans on here...

but Balmain boy - since the feeder clubs and the parent club works together and money is spnt on that club - I feel that any player that comes from any feeder club is due to club's development. You must remember that the Roosters spend a lot of time and effort in the Recliffe area even playing trial matchs. A lot of work done by the club done is not splattered over papers but done quietly and effectively.

Something that people do forget - NRL clubs have $3.25m to spend and they all do to the best of their ability to buy the best they can. All clubs now have development officers out in the field - running the rule over players.

So if you say your club doesnt then they have hells hope of winning a premiership..

But your opinion is your opinion but mine is mine - as far as I am concerned even if they came through Redcliffe its still due to our further development that these players are now coming in droves.

I don't think it's a problem with a club with the demographics of the Roosters buying 17-18 year old's with potential from other clubs and bringing them through their junior ranks. In areas like Newcastle, Penrith and Brisbane there are thousands of juniors but in the end only 17 first grade positions available with their top team, so it doesn't bother me that they use their development and scouting officers for that.

The problem is it doesn't seem a lot of these juniors you buy ever make it, instead the majority of your team is made up of players who were already first graders at their previous clubs. For example next year you are losing Fittler, Hegarty, Hodges etc and you've replaced them with 3 already established first graders in Roberts, Monaghan and Firman.

Fittler was always close to retirement, where were your oh so brilliant talent scouts 3 years ago looking for a suitable replacement that you could buy young and bring through the grades to be ready for when the inevitable happened?

We did Jamie Soward. He might be ready next year to. If not the year after.

Fair enough. I apologise I didn't know what position he played.
